Ralf Schumacher has suggested that Lewis Hamilton is not a part of a potential Ferrari ‘super team’.

When Lewis Hamilton joined Ferrari for the 2025 Formula 1 Championship, there were high hopes for the former World Champion.

The British driver linked up with Charles Leclerc, who had been with Ferrari since 2019, and there were hopes that the two drivers would take the Scuderia back to their glory days.

However, in their first year as teammates neither driver won a Grand Prix, and Leclerc ended the season in fifth place in the Championship, with Hamilton in sixth place.

There have now been suggestions that Ferrari need to begin looking to the future for their new ‘super team’.

Oliver Bearman made his full-time debut in Formula 1 in 2025 when he signed for Haas and put together an impressive rookie season as he outperformed his experienced teammate Esteban Ocon.

Whilst discussing whether Ferrari would be looking at Bearman as a driver for the future on Backstage Boxengasse [Backstage Pit Lane], Ralf Schumacher sang the praises of the British driver, saying he is ‘the man of the future’.

The 20-year-old had been a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2022 and has had strong links to Ferrari since his junior career, which could strengthen the idea of him joining Ferrari in the future.

Schumacher said, “Yes, I think Ferrari is currently looking at Bearman. They have Charles Leclerc, if he doesn’t leave, there were rumours that he could theoretically leave, but I don’t really believe that.

“Incidentally, Charles Leclerc also looked good with Hamilton. He still had a few difficulties and wasn’t entirely happy, as he himself said, but Charles Leclerc looked really good.

“So this could be a super team. Leclerc now and Bearman, the man of the future, who is still building things up with a young man. No question about it.”

Ferrari have not discussed the future with Oliver Bearman

Although the idea of Bearman being the ideal successor to Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari is not new, Bearman himself admitted he has not held discussions with Ferrari.

Ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 season, the British driver reflected on discussions he has had with Fred Vasseur, but Bearman stated that ‘we haven’t talked about my future yet’.

Before making his full-time debut with Haas, Bearman did get a one-off drive with Ferrari at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, when Carlos Sainz was unable to race due to appendicitis.

During his sole race as a Ferrari driver, Bearman scored points as he finished in seventh place, and claimed the driver of the day award.
