Formula 1 Calendar

The Formula 1 calendar for the 2026 season features a 22-round schedule, taking the pinnacle of motorsport to 19 countries to stage races at 22 circuits around the world.

F1 had originally arranged a 24-round calendar for the 2026 season, which was set to match the record 24 rounds held in 2024 and 2025. But Formula 1 was forced to cancel its planned races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia scheduled for April due to the situation in the Middle East.

Also, like in 2024 and 2025, the 2026 schedule will see Formula 1 stage six F1 Sprint events through the year, having opted not to increase the number of 100km dashes. F1 agreed to give the Dutch Grand Prix one of the six Sprints due to it being F1’s final visit to Zandvoort.

The 2026 Formula 1 season will start in Melbourne with the Australian Grand Prix on March 6-8, and it will end at Yas Marina with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 4-6. There are a total of five double-headers plus two triple-headers, which both fall at the end of the year.

Formula 1 and the FIA opted against making wholesale changes to the calendar for 2026, as the championship had revamped the schedule in 2025 to better arrange the races based on their geographic regions. But F1 made minor tweaks to further improve its carbon footprint.

The Canadian Grand Prix has been brought forward to follow F1’s visit to Miami for a double trip to the Americas in May. Additionally, F1 has moved the Monaco Grand Prix back to June to free a slot in May for the Canadian GP, which also no longer interrupts the European leg.

F1’s trip to Montmelo in June also now sees the race take on a new name as the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, after Madrid stole the Spanish Grand Prix from the Catalan venue. F1 will visit the Madring in September for the first Spanish GP not held in Barcelona since 1991.

The Madring is the only new addition to the F1 calendar in 2026, and it also marks the only change to the schedule after the summer break compared to 2025. F1’s two visits to Spain in 2026 come at the expense of Italy’s Imola, with the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix dropped.

Which races on the 2026 calendar are F1 Sprint events?

The 2026 F1 season will see six F1 Sprint events on the calendar for the fourth year in a row after Formula 1 and the FIA agreed against increasing the number of 100km (62-mile) events on the billing. But F1 has changed the tracks for four of the six Sprints in the 2026 season.

Only the Chinese Grand Prix in round two in March and the Miami Grand Prix in round six in May have retained Sprint events from the 2025 schedule. Montreal, Silverstone, Zandvoort and Marina Bay have replaced Spa, COTA, Interlagos and Lusail as F1 Sprint venues in 2026.

F1 is taking the Sprint to the Canadian GP (round seven in May), Dutch Grand Prix (round 14 in August) and Singapore Grand Prix (round 18 in October) for the first time ever in 2026. F1 staged the very first Sprint at the British Grand Prix in 2021, and takes it back there in 2026.
