What Red Bull’s ‘target’ is at each F1 race for the rest of the season if they can’t beat Lando Norris

Red Bull Racing will be well aware of how important the last six race weekends of the 2024 Formula 1 season are.

Not only have Red Bull got to somehow protect Max Verstappen’s lead in the Drivers’ Championship, they’ve also got to claw back more than 40 points on nearest rivals McLaren.

The worry will be that a resurgent Ferrari team could also overtake them in the team standings if they’re not careful.

Upgrades are coming at Red Bull; however, they’ve been caught in a similar trap to many of the teams this season.

Correlation between Red Bull’s wind tunnel and real-life performance has been an issue and if that can’t be rectified then they’re going to be in real trouble.

The biggest threat to Verstappen winning a fourth consecutive world championship is Lando Norris.

The British driver reduced the deficit once again at the Singapore Grand Prix, but Verstappen’s unexpected second-place finish minimised the damage.

Verstappen also thanked Daniel Ricciardo for stealing the fastest lap point away from Norris with every point potentially crucial between now and Abu Dhabi.

A report from Formu1a.uno has shared more details about Red Bull’s plans for the end of the season.

While Red Bull can’t rely on Sergio Perez to aid Verstappen in his fight, they can concentrate on more than just Norris.

The title fight may end up coming down to a battle between the Dutchman and rising star Oscar Piastri.

Red Bull targeting Oscar Piastri if they can’t beat Lando Norris

The report from Formu1a.uno explains how important it is for Norris and Verstappen for their rivals to steal points from each other.

Ferrari should have been in a position to do so in Singapore were it not for the disastrous final qualifying session that put them out of contention.

Verstappen has once again shown his immense talent this season, but when Norris and Piastri both hook up strong weekends, the Dutchman is virtually powerless to stop them.

People within Red Bull have decided that even if Verstappen is unable to win a race, simply beating one of both McLaren is the only goal.

It’s an important objective for both championships, however, unless Perez can improve his form immediately, the Constructors’ Championship battle is as good as over.

The report also goes on to highlight just how much of an advantage McLaren had over the rest of the field in Singapore.

Red Bull made sacrifices to concentrate on pure performance, but even when they did, Norris and Piastri were 4-5km/h faster around the final two corners than any of their rivals.

Nico Rosberg has seen something ‘very strange’ from Sergio Perez amid Red Bull’s issues

The trouble for Red Bull compared to McLaren is not having two drivers immediately capable of winning races when they have the quickest car.

Perez is mathematically out of contention to win the championship and hasn’t finished a Grand Prix on the podium since China.

Nico Rosberg believes something strange is going on with Perez and he can’t understand why the gap to Verstappen is so large.

His inability to drive an albeit temperamental car is likely to cost Red Bull a third consecutive Constructors’ Championship.

If Verstappen can’t rely on him to help execute strategies that will stop Norris and Piastri, it might cost the Dutch his next championship too.
