Aston Martin are reportedly considering parting ways with team principal and CEO Andy Cowell, with former Red Bull boss Christian Horner linked with the position.
It’s been a disappointing campaign for Aston Martin, who now sit eighth in the constructors’ championship after the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso missed out on points during Sunday’s race, despite McLaren’s double disqualification, which directly benefited Aston Martin’s rivals.
Nico Hulkenberg was promoted to sixth, Isack Hadjar to seventh, and both Haas drivers moved into the top 10.

Lance Stroll was taken out by an out-of-control Gabriel Bortoleto on the opening lap, extending his pointless run to seven races.
It’s now been reported that Andy Cowell could lose his job at Aston Martin, with Christian Horner named as a potential replacement.
The former Red Bull team principal’s demands have now emerged as more details about Cowell’s potential exit are revealed.

Christian Horner ‘pushing hard’ for Aston Martin leadership role and shareholding
A report from BBC Sport has shared more details about a potential return to the paddock for Horner.
According to ‘multiple senior sources’, Lawrence Stroll is set to axe Cowell over disagreements with new technical chief Adrian Newey.
Newey was hired from Red Bull at the beginning of the year after he quit the team following a disagreement with Horner.
It’s believed that Horner and Newey’s relationship has improved, but whether Aston Martin want to put that to the test is another matter.
Aston Martin new team principal
Cowell could retain a position in the wider Aston Martin organisation, but it’s expected that he will lose his roles as team principal and CEO.
Horner is among the names linked with the potential vacancy, and it’s believed that he’s ‘pushing hard for a leadership role at Aston Martin, along with a shareholding in the team.’
Cowell said Aston Martin have ‘no plans’ to hire Horner at the beginning of October.
Those plans might have changed, although the report goes on to say that Horner is ‘far from certain’ to be hired by Aston Martin.

Who else are Aston Martin targeting with Andy Cowell set to lose team principal role
Horner is one of several names who have already been linked with the role at Aston Martin.
Audi chief Mattia Binotto is also on their shortlist, but whether Aston Martin could draw him away from his current position is another matter.
Sauber’s takeover of Audi will be officially complete in a matter of weeks, and Binotto has been crucial to their development over the past 12 months.

Former McLaren chief Andreas Seidl is also on Aston Martin’s radar.
Seidl has recently been on Ferrari’s radar when Fred Vasseur was under pressure, highlighting his strong reputation in the paddock.
Aston Martin have put all of their eggs in the 2026 basket. Parting ways with Cowell less than two months before their new car begins testing would be a bold and incredibly risky play.
