Aston Martin team principal Andy Cowell is set to leave the team after just over a year, sources have reported.
The Brit joined the Silverstone outfit in October 2024, replacing Mike Krack as team principal. Cowell was leading Lawrence Stroll’s operation as they looked to make serious progress under the 2026 F1 regulations.
With Adrian Newey and Honda on board, Aston Martin seemingly had what they needed to be title contenders next year. However, the project seems to have hit a stumbling block as Cowell is set to leave the team.
A report from BBC Sport has said that Cowell had ‘disagreements’ with Newey behind the scenes. No official confirmation has been made as of yet, but it appears that Stroll has decided to act and relieve the former of his duties.

Christian Horner is ‘among the candidates’ to replace Andy Cowell as he is set to leave Aston Martin
The decision comes as Aston Martin sit seventh in the constructors’ championship, with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll struggling to score consistent points in 2025.
With Cowell set to be out the door, BBC Sport have reported that former Red Bull boss Christian Horner is ‘among the candidates’ to replace him.
Aston Martin new team principal
Horner has been heavily linked with Aston Martin since his sacking from the Milton Keynes outfit back in July. He is free to join a new F1 team in 2026, with the Silverstone squad being a strong option for the 51-year-old.
Horner’s relationship with Newey and Honda makes the move a plausible one, plus his experience and success make him one of the best candidates on the market right now.
F1 Oversteer reached out to Aston Martin for comment, and the team said that they ‘will not be engaging in rumour or speculation.’
‘The focus is on maximising performance in the remaining races and preparing for 2026.’
