‘There is something’: Journalist now shares what upgrades Ferrari are bringing to Emilia Romagna

Journalist Roberto Chinchero has shared what upgrades Ferrari will be bringing to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend.

Chinchero was speaking on the F1 Nation podcast ahead of this weekend’s race.

It’s set to be an exciting one given the interesting weather forecast.

Torrential rain is expected at Imola and could prove to be a leveller in a season where one team has already pulled away.

Red Bull are once again dominating the grid this season, with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez completing four one-twos already this season.

Only Lewis Hamilton has been able to disrupt their grasp on the top two positions on the podium in a chaotic race in Australia.

One team that would have been hoping to produce a lot more this season is Ferrari.

Charles Leclerc looked like Max Verstappen’s biggest rival at one point last season.

He’s now languishing down in 7th place in the Drivers Championship, having already suffered two retirements.

Chinchero has now shared what upgrades Ferrari will be introducing at the Emilia Romagna GP.

The Italian team will want to perform well on their return to home soil this weekend.

Ferrari bringing upgrades to Emilia Romagna

Asked about what Ferrari have got coming to Imola, Chinchero said: “I think there is something in the new aerodynamics, but a big part will be in Barcelona.

“In Barcelona, it’s the key points, the turning points and I think that’s better.

“In Imola, of course, the forecast will not help. If it’s raining, it’s not helping if you want to judge how good the new update is and at the same time, there is a different qualifying system.

“So, I think Barcelona will be the turning point.”

Emilia Romagna is unlikely to be the best place for Ferrari to showcase their upgrades.

To wait until Barcelona – traditionally where many teams introduce new parts – makes a lot of sense.

The improved forecast in Spain will also give them a better idea of whether they’re going in the right direction.

It might help Ferrari marginally close in on Red Bull temporarily.

But it wouldn’t be a surprise if they too were planning to make their seriously quick car even fast.
