Lewis Hamilton is about to return home for the British Grand Prix powered by a Ferrari engine for the first time in his Formula 1 career.
The 40-year-old made a blockbuster move from Mercedes to the Scuderia over the winter, but they have struggled to enjoy the success they would desire. He sits just sixth in the drivers’ championship.
Ferrari showed signs of progress with a new floor upgrade at the previous race in Austria, helping Hamilton to match his best result of the campaign.
Ferrari have addressed an issue Hamilton was ‘suffering’ with by helping to widen the operating window of their car, and offering a variety of setups to him.
However, Hamilton has been warned of a ‘difficult’ Ferrari upgrade coming before the summer break, which may not suit his driving style. A rear suspension upgrade could make the car a little more nervous under braking.

Ted Kravitz doesn’t ‘get’ Lewis Hamilton’s positivity after Ferrari strategy complaints over radio
Hamilton was ‘absolutely right’ to disagree with Ferrari over strategy in Spielberg, after he wanted to run a one-stop strategy.
Both Liam Lawson and Fernando Alonso were the only drivers to run the strategy, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively. It might have earned Hamilton a podium.
And while he took to his radio to vent his frustrations mid-race, he seemed positive about the outlook of the race when talking to the media after the event, which is something that Ted Kravitz doesn’t understand.
“Lewis after the race was, Craig, I think he was speaking to you, was saying how great everything was,” he told The F1 Show podcast. “But that didn’t entirely square with the ‘why are you pitting me, I really don’t want to pit now, can we please not pit now?’
“Can you marry the two up for me? Because I didn’t really get how he sounded so frustrated with the strategy that just guaranteed he was going to finish where he was behind Leclerc, which is maybe what Ferrari were after just to keep the order. After the race, he sounded so positive about their weekend.”

Why Lewis Hamilton’s radio message suggests he’s still unhappy at Ferrari
After 11 races, Hamilton is yet to manage a podium for Ferrari, while his teammate has four this year alone.
Ignoring a disqualification in China (where he managed points anyway), the Briton has at least managed to make the top 10 at every race.
But finishing between fourth and eighth every week isn’t going to help him win a championship. Next year’s car must be more effective than the SF25, which is lacking in multiple areas.
Hamilton’s radio message suggests he’s unhappy at Ferrari after admitting he still has work to do following the last race in Austria.
It shows that his confidence in the car isn’t quite there yet, and he is left to wait for new upgrades to tilt the balance in his favour.
