Ferrari have now addressed one major issue Lewis Hamilton has been ‘suffering’ with for months

Lewis Hamilton has been working hard to put Ferrari on the right track ever since he arrived over the winter.

After a dip in performance, the Scuderia have managed to maintain their position in the constructors’ championship nearly halfway through the season, and are still in second place.

However, eyes are starting to turn to the 2026 F1 regulations, where Hamilton hopes to compete for a record eighth title of his own.

It would mean twice as much for his team, with Ferrari also looking to end what is likely to be an 18-year championship drought by then.

Ferrari have ‘internally’ identified Hamilton’s biggest problem, and stand-in team principal Jerome d’Ambrosio believes he struggles most in race trim.

However, not everything helps the Briton, with Hamilton warned of a ‘difficult’ Ferrari upgrade that may not suit his driving style in a few races’ time.

Ferrari have addressed balance issues Lewis Hamilton has been ‘suffering’ with for months after upgrade

The Austrian Grand Prix ended up being Ferrari’s second-best result of the season, but perhaps their most encouraging at the same time.

Both cars finished inside the top four on Sunday, and a new floor upgrade aimed at widening the setup window of their car seemed to work.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the balance of the car has improved with the new developments, helping to improve the ‘suffering’ Hamilton has faced in 2025.

The reason they’re now in a better position is that their car is more flexible than it was before. It’s capable of working better in slightly warmer and slightly colder conditions than it was before Spielberg.

Hamilton was told he was ‘absolutely right’ to disagree with Ferrari after wanting to do a one-stop in Austria, which worked for two other drivers in the top eight. However, his team disagreed, and it may have cost him a first podium in red.

Why Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari upgrades have arrived at the perfect time in the 2025 F1 season

Every Formula 1 driver has a favourite track, and Hamilton’s might just be his home circuit, where he has won nine times.

At the 2024 British Grand Prix, the 40-year-old broke the record for the most wins on a single track, highlighting just how much he loves it there.

And he couldn’t be coming home to the Silverstone crowd at a better time, as he starts to build some real momentum.

Hamilton’s unheard radio message suggests he’s unhappy at Ferrari, and he’s still aware that he has more work to do to get quicker first.

But he was about as close as he has been to Charles Leclerc all season in Austria, and there’s no reason why the next race won’t be a similar or even better case for him.
