Lewis Hamilton warned that ‘difficult’ upcoming Ferrari upgrade could be more beneficial to Charles Leclerc

Ferrari made some encouraging progress at the Austrian Grand Prix after a new floor helped to widen the working window of the SF25.

Despite scorching temperatures at Spielberg, both drivers were able to finish in the top four on Sunday, marking the team’s second-best result of the Formula 1 season so far.

Lewis Hamilton was able to match his best result for the Scuderia and remained within touching distance of teammate Charles Leclerc for most of the race.

But, Ferrari aren’t done there. They’re bringing more upgrades to add to the new floor they just introduced over the coming races.

Hamilton was ‘absolutely right’ to disagree with Ferrari after he questioned their strategy call in Austria. He wanted a one-stop which worked for two cars behind him.

However, at least Hamilton will be encouraged by a Ferrari chief’s update on their recent upgrades, which have had a positive effect on their car.

Lewis Hamilton warned ‘difficult’ Ferrari upgrade may suit Charles Leclerc more than him

Hamilton radio message suggests he’s still unhappy at Ferrari after admitting he has more work to do to ‘figure’ out his lack of pace.

But his rivals haven’t lost any respect for him. Leclerc agrees with George Russell about Hamilton and can see why he is touted as the ‘GOAT’ (Greatest of all time).

And although upgrades are designed to make his life easier, the Italian edition of Motorsport.com reports that more additions will be coming to their car at races in Hungary and Belgium.

A new suspension upgrade could make Hamilton’s life more ‘difficult’, as it may slightly unsettle the rear of the car more under braking, which doesn’t suit his driving style.

It could be more beneficial for his teammate Leclerc, who prefers a pointy front-end and has enjoyed the better rub of the green for much of the season so far.

Ferrari have agreed to address something which has been ‘annoying’ Lewis Hamilton

Although the outlook for 2025 doesn’t look too promising, Hamilton may have pulled off a masterstroke for 2026 after whispers that his team may be in a really good position for next season.

All outfits have already begun preparations for the 2026 F1 regulations, but no one has a clue what the order will be like at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

It could be all change, but before then, there’s plenty to be decided, with Ferrari sitting second in the constructors’ championship.

Ferrari will address something that has annoyed Hamilton by trying to reduce the amount of understeer he faces in the car.

If they can do that successfully, then he has a good chance of finally achieving his first podium in red, which has been a long time coming.
