Sergio Perez knows he needs a strong result at Zandvoort more than any other driver on the grid.
After having his Red Bull Racing seat called into question during the summer break, Sergio Perez has been offered a reprieve by team principal Christian Horner and the team’s other senior personnel.
However, that stay of execution won’t last long and Perez’s Red Bull future could be reassessed after the Singapore Grand Prix.
Despite falling to 7th in the Drivers’ Championship, Red Bull appear keen to give Perez as many chances as possible to prove that he should continue as Max Verstappen’s teammate.
Speaking on the Pit Talk Podcast, journalist Mat Coch shared more information about the 34-year-old’s future.
Red Bull have a host of drivers they could potentially promote into Perez’s race seat if they feel a change is needed.
They could even organise a swap that would see Perez drive for RB if they wanted to as each driver signs a central contract, rather than a deal for a specific team.

However, Coch believes there are two ways that Perez could lose his seat at the end of the season before the 2025 campaign begins.
He’s confident that if Perez survives the next 10 races, he’s got a good chance of being on the grid next year, although that might be easier said than done.

Sergio Perez could lose his Red Bull seat for two reasons during the winter break
Talking about Perez’s future, Coch said: “Sergio needs to do something. He doesn’t need to do a lot but he needs to do something.
“I get the feeling that the decision that was made post-Belgium to retain him is probably going to be the decision that’s made post-season unless one of two things happen.
“One, if Sergio completely capitulates and does nothing in the next few races.
“Or two, Daniel Ricciardo shows us the race-winning form from Monaco 2018 all over again.
“If one of those two things happen I can see a change coming but I think the change will happen before the end of the year.
“If we get to the end of the season and Sergio Perez is still in that car, I would put money on Sergio Perez being in that car at the start of next year.
“I wouldn’t put money on Daniel Ricciardo still being in the RB though.”

Eddie Jordan unsure Sergio Perez will be on the grid next year
It’s safe to say that when the chequered flag flew at Spa before the summer break, plenty of people didn’t think Perez would still be driving for Red Bull for the Dutch Grand Prix.
Perez’s father didn’t look happy as the Mexican driver had let a front-row start slip as he came home behind all of his rivals within the top four teams.
Eddie Jordan has predicted that Perez won’t be at Red Bull in 2025, instead suggesting that youngster Liam Lawson will be in his seat.
It’s certainly a possibility as Helmut Marko has confirmed that Lawson will be in a race seat next year after fulfilling his duties as reserve and simulator driver this year.
That means it could be a showdown between Perez and Ricciardo to see who misses out.
