As Red Bull look to woo Oscar Piastri into joining them, the Australian driver could use this as an opportunity to take a big step in his dream to win a championship with McLaren.
Piastri has emerged as a target for Red Bull in the event that Max Verstappen decides to leave the team or retire from Formula 1 altogether.
In fact, his manager Mark Webber has pushed Red Bull to sign Piastri for the last few years, using his connections with his former team to secure a move for the Australian sensation.
What are your thoughts on Red Bull’s interest in Oscar Piastri? 😳
Let us know in the comments below!
However, Piastri has shown very little interest in a move away from McLaren, despite the controversy surrounding the papaya rules during his quest to win a world championship.
Well, if Oscar Piastri isn’t looking to jump to Red Bull, he should at least make the most of their interest to try and get a better deal with McLaren.

Oscar Piastri must leverage Red Bull interest to land new McLaren contract with title fight clause
It would make absolutely all the sense in the world for Oscar Piastri to try and secure a better contract with McLaren.
Not only has he exceeded expectations since he first joined the team, he has found himself in the championship mix quite frequently.
However, due to McLaren’s papaya rules, Piastri was left somewhat out in the cold compared to his teammate, Lando Norris, who went on to win the world championship last year.
While there are certain criticisms aimed at Piastri for not delivering in the big moments, there were also many who felt Piastri was overlooked by those within McLaren in favour of Norris.
Regardless, with the interest from Red Bull, Piastri could go to McLaren officials and ask for a new contract, one that includes an iron-clad clause as it pertains to the treatment he and Norris get as equals in a potential championship battle.
Given how important signing Piastri in 2023 was for McLaren, and his subsequent performances, one can imagine they will do everything in their power to try and hold on to him.

Does Oscar Piastri ‘tighten up’ under pressure?
Oscar Piastri must be a cornerstone of McLaren for years to come
Piastri has expressed his commitment to McLaren despite the controversy surrounding last season and his championship dreams being shattered.
And for all the criticism surrounding them, the relationship between Norris and Piastri still being intact has given proof that McLaren were correct about the papaya rules.
Even if Norris asks for a more stern implementation of the rules in a new contract, McLaren should acquiesce and give him exactly what he wants, within reason.
Piastri has lived up to the billing of a generational talent, and for McLaren to lose him would be a disaster under any circumstances.
Red Bull have wanted Piastri for a very long time, but McLaren have an edge over them, as they seemingly have earned Piastri’s trust over the last few years.
They cannot afford to squander that trust and risk losing one of the best drivers on the grid without making a sincere effort to keep him happy.
