Oscar Piastri’s recent comments about his role within McLaren suggest he isn’t going to be swayed by Red Bull’s interest in him.
Piastri is reportedly on Red Bull’s radar in the event that Max Verstappen chooses to leave the team in the future.
Piastri is considered one of the best drivers on the grid, so it’s only right that Red Bull have their eye on the McLaren star should he become available in the future.
What are your thoughts on Red Bull’s interest in Oscar Piastri? 😳
Let us know in the comments below!
Given the fallout of last season, there was concern that Piastri might eye a move to another team where he would be the first priority.
McLaren would regret seeing Piastri leave if it comes to that. But his recent comments suggest he is completely focused on finding success with McLaren.

Oscar Piastri explains how he wants to be remembered by McLaren
Speaking in a feature for McLaren’s YouTube channel, Oscar Piastri spoke about everything that it takes to be successful as an F1 driver.
Piastri explained how he has to commit himself to the team goal and what he wants his legacy to be as a McLaren driver, even if he never manages to win the world championship.
“You need to look after yourself well. You need to be a good team player. You need to work, not just with the team of engineers around you, but with the hundreds of people at the factory as well.
“You need to be a lot of things. You can be all of those things, and if you’re not fast, it doesn’t really matter. It would be nice to think that I wasn’t just a driver in a time of success for the team. I’d like to think I was a driver that helped the success of the team.
“Even if I don’t become a world champion, or none of that happens, then I think being known as someone who went out racing as hard as they could, did everything they could to try and be the best, but also in the right way, that’s an important thing for me as well.
“Being a true racer, but someone that was very committed to the team and tried to make McLaren a better team.”

Oscar Piastri is not a fan of the Miami Grand Prix, but did it finally deliver a good race this year?
Oscar Piastri has shown his commitment to McLaren for several years
Despite any perceived slights from the team’s end, Oscar Piastri has always shown a dedication to McLaren that is refreshing to see in Formula 1.
Even before he joined Formula 1, Piastri rejected an opportunity with Alpine, despite an existing relationship, to join McLaren.
The hope for the Australian driver is that his commitment will pay off with McLaren backing him to win the world championship in the years to come.
So far, Brown has been supportive of Piastri and suggested that the team will back him if he has a clear path to the world championship.
But after last year, there are those who are sceptical of Brown and McLaren’s intention to back Piastri over his teammate, Lando Norris. This season could be their chance to pay Piastri back for his commitment.
