Haas driver Oliver Bearman has praised Carlos Sainz for the work he was doing behind the scenes during his time at Ferrari.
Carlos Sainz is preparing for his second season as a Williams driver, while Oliver Bearman is hoping to build on his impressive end to the 2025 campaign.
Sainz was forced to explore his options in the driver market in 2024 when Ferrari decided to sign Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes.

Williams have had a ‘complicated winter’, according to Sainz, but Bearman believes he has the skillset to help James Vowles’ team take big strides forward during the sport’s new regulation set.
Bearman and Sainz crossed paths at Ferrari when the young British driver acted as the Scuderia’s reserve driver, stepping in for the four-time race winner to make his debut in Saudi Arabia.
He’s now described what he wants to learn from the Spanish driver going forward after witnessing his feedback to Ferrari engineers first-hand.

Oliver Bearman raves about Carlos Sainz’s ‘incredible’ feedback after Ferrari spell
Jake Humphrey said to Bearman on the High Performance Podcast that he felt as if Sainz would be a great mentor to him going forward.
Bearman then revealed: “I rate him very, very highly.
“When I was a reserve driver at Ferrari, and I was listening in on all the debriefs and the detail and the way he’s able to describe what he feels in the car is incredible because it’s one thing to feel it.
How much do Ferrari MISS Carlos Sainz being one of their drivers?
“And often, I was feeling the same thing as this guy, or Esteban, for example. But Carlos was able to describe it to the engineers in a way that they were able to improve the car, and I think that’s such an important quality to have.
“It’s one thing that I’ve improved a lot through the year, and I’m nowhere near the point where I need to be, but it’s a big benefit.”

James Vowles hails ‘performance machine’ Carlos Sainz at Williams
Williams jumped up to fifth in the constructors’ championship last year with Sainz and Alex Albon creating their strongest driver partnership in years.
The Spanish driver scored both of Williams’ podiums last year, although Albon still managed to finish above him in the standings.
Speaking on the Beyond the Grid Podcast, Williams’ boss James Vowles spoke about the positives of having Sainz in the team.
He said: “Carlos is quick, but he’s a performance machine, and what I mean by that is he wants thousands of details to be at the right level for him to perform and give everything back to the team.
“He wants the team to improve and be better. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that every team he’s been in has improved in his tenure there. I can see why after many, many months of talking to him.”
Unfortunately, Williams’ car is already overweight compared to its rivals, and they will be lucky to reach the final stage of qualifying in Australia based on testing data.
Sainz is the perfect driver to have in the team to overcome these issues, but he would have hoped that Williams would have been more on the front foot after sacrificing so much development on last year’s car.
