Fans often enjoy a special tribute helmet or livery in Formula 1, mainly because they are used to mark special races or occasions in a driver’s career.
Sebastian Vettel used to have a special helmet for each race he contested at one stage throughout his second championship-winning year, while several other drivers are known to have special ‘home’ race helmets such as Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen.
Drivers usually try to mix things up by going with a new design each season, while others stick with a constant throughout their career to create a distinct design that people can associate with them.
For the Singapore night race, some drivers are doing something special to commemorate the unique race weekend.

Lando Norris brings ‘insane’ helmet design to Singapore Grand Prix
Lando Norris has been known to create bespoke helmet designs for races he enjoys, most recently doing so for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
His latest comes at this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix, with a design that moves away from his distinctive fluorescent green colour.
According to a social post by his esports brand Quadrant, the ‘liquid carbon’ design is a teaser for the upcoming rebrand of the company set for 2025.
Fans reacted on social media, with many going crazy over the paint scheme. Personal sponsor Monster Energy said: “brb gonna go frame this” while another fan commented “the helmet. the matching boots. INSANE.”
Another fan said that Norris is “definitely the driver with the best helmets” in a comment on Instagram, while fan accounts on X (formerly Twitter) also showed their appreciation.
Lando Norris looking to close gap to Max Verstappen in Drivers’ Championship
Norris will be looking to close the gap in the Drivers’ Championship even more to Max Verstappen heading into the Singapore GP.
He is now within 59 points of the Dutchman after outscoring him at the recent Azerbaijan GP, while McLaren also overtook Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship.
Red Bull elected to abandon a special fan-created Singapore GP livery this weekend, after fears that it might add weight to the car.
Helmut Marko is also concerned that the team could be on the back foot this weekend because of Sergio Perez’s late crash with Carlos Sainz. The team may not have enough spare parts for the new specification floor they introduced last weekend after the crash, which could impact their data-gathering exercise to improv the car performance.
