McLaren fans are absolutely obsessed with ‘masterpiece’ helmet Lando Norris is using in Hungary

Drivers are known for having a special helmet for Formula 1 races and it appears Lando Norris has selected one for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Last year many will remember when Norris broke Max Verstappen’s winners trophy with his signature champagne celebration.

The Briton slammed his bottle on the podium and it caused the £35,000 trophy, which takes six months to make, to topple onto the ground and break into several pieces.

Verstappen later received a replacement of the trophy by makers Herend Porcelain, who have now teamed up with Norris to create this design for the race in Hungary.

Fans react to Lando Norris’ ‘masterpiece’ Hungarian GP helmet

Fans have taken to social media to react to the helmet after it was revealed by McLaren on social media website X, with user @ExileftNini saying “It’s so sleeeeek” and another @ZcChild saying “Beautiful af.”

Another user, @carryfiasco, commented: “Probably my favourite helmet design EVER. It also reminds me of that random pottery you find in the mud when you’re gardening so I’m gonna collect all that now and build myself a model helmet (pretend I am artistic enough for this).”

While the user @Jadey called it a “masterpiece” with fellow users also sharing the same sentiments over the one-off design. User @Stonojr offered some words of advice to Norris: “just don’t break it 😉 #justsaying.”

Hungarian GP trophy makers helped Lando Norris design helmet

The design is handpainted by the porcelain art specialists at the company and features more than 800 different colours of Herend.

The basis of the pattern was inspired by the “Hungarian motifs” (“Motifs Hongrois”) decor with the elements of Transylvanian embroideries of the 15th – 17th centuries.

The pattern was supplemented with elements of another well-known Herend décor, the stylized bird, butterfly and bee motifs of the “Jardin Zoologique A Bleu” (Blue flora and fauna). At the request of Norris, a special gold ‘LN’ was painted either side of the helmet.
