Ferrari will partner with Cadillac from the 2026 season as an engine supplier, but their chief advisor and F1 champion Mario Andretti has not very favourable views on Fred Vasseur.
The Maranello outfit have had a disappointing 2025 campaign. Despite signing Lewis Hamilton to go alongside Charles Leclerc, the team have not lived up to the hype surrounding them during the off-season.
With six races to go, Ferrari are still searching for their first win of the season. Hamilton’s Sprint win in China is the only time that he and the team have tasted victory in 2025, with Leclerc scoring five podiums.

Leclerc says Ferrari are the fourth-best team on the grid as they fall further behind McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull in terms of performance. They have struggled to find the right balance with the SF-25 all year.
Their 2025 challenger has had issues with ride height all season, with Ferrari’s new rear suspension upgrade in Spa not bringing any improvements. The Maranello outfit’s lack of performance has raised questions about Vasseur’s future.

Mario Andretti simply answers ‘yes’ to whether he has lost faith in Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur
Vasseur was adamant that a rear suspension upgrade would solve the team’s problems, prioritising that over anything else. Ferrari ‘ignored’ Leclerc and Hamilton’s wishes for aerodynamic upgrades because of it, leading to more issues with the car.
Vasseur is refusing to demand changes at Ferrari for fear of upsetting boss John Elkann. It was reported earlier in the year that the Ferrari chief was considering sacking his team principal over their poor results.
It is not just Elkann who is starting to lose faith in Vasseur. Speaking via La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cadillac chief advisor Andretti had a brutal answer when asked about the Ferrari boss.
Asked if he had lost faith in the Frenchman, Andretti simply replied: “Yes.” Ferrari will supply Cadillac with engines from 2026 until General Motors introduce their power units by the end of the decade; this will not be what the former wants to hear ahead of the partnership.

Fred Vasseur’s job at Ferrari is under threat despite signing a new contract
Amid the pressure that was on him at the start of the season, Vasseur penned a new contract with Ferrari. He will continue to lead the team for now and hopes to bring success under the new technical regulations with Leclerc and Hamilton.
Vasseur’s contract lasts until 2027, giving him two years of the new rules to deliver results. However, even then, his position is still under threat.
Elkann is considering sacking Vasseur to sign Christian Horner, having reportedly spoken to the former Red Bull team principal earlier in the year. The 51-year-old is looking for his next role in F1 at the start of 2026, and Ferrari could open the door for him.
Hamilton would hate Ferrari signing Horner, given his rivalry with him during his days at Mercedes. Vasseur was the main reason the seven-time champion joined Ferrari; he will not want to see that alliance come to an end.
