Ferrari have announced that team principal Fred Vasseur has signed a new contract extension.
Described as a ‘multi-year’ contract in Ferrari’s official press release, the Frenchman will continue his duties for the next few F1 seasons, having taken the role back in 2023.
Ferrari say their decision to extend Vasseur’s deal shows their ‘determination to build on the foundations laid so far’. The 57-year-old has been working extensively to mould the team into a title contender, which has included the signing of Lewis Hamilton.
The 2025 season has not entirely gone to plan thus far, with Ferrari being the only top-four team yet to win a Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc has scored five podiums, while, besides a Sprint win in Shanghai, Hamilton is struggling to adapt to the SF-25.

Ferrari’s ‘top brass’ had been using Italian media to express disappointment in the team’s performance. It led to speculation that Vasseur could lose his job, with rumours recently linking Christian Horner to the Ferrari job after his exit from Red Bull.
But that has not materialised as the Maranello outfit have opted for continuity. Martin Brundle told Ferrari not to resort to sackings to solve their form; a view held by many in the F1 world.

Ferrari fans view Fred Vasseur’s contract extension as a ‘good move’ as they want to see ‘consistency’
‘No one’ in F1 believed sacking Vasseur would solve Hamilton’s problems at Ferrari. The Frenchman was the key reason why the seven-time champion made the switch from Mercedes, and like the Tifosi, he will certainly be delighted with the news that he is here to stay.
Under Ferrari’s official announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Ferrari fans all saw the move as positive, calling for consistency and balance within the operation.
“This is good. Ferrari needs stability,” said one fan. Another echoed: “Good move. Consistency at last.”
“We knew he was going nowhere!” said one user. Another Ferrari fan insisted that there was no reason for the team to make a drastic decision with Vasseur: “Fantastic, never in doubt! Absolutely no reason for anything to change.”
“The right decision. He’s not the problem at the team, and neither are the drivers,” wrote another supporter. Finally, one fan said: “Good move. He has done a lot better than Mattia Binotto and can still do good for Ferrari.”

Will Buxton claims ‘success will come’ after Fred Vasseur signs new Ferrari contract
Ferrari have had their fair share of team principals over the years and have not shied away from making swift sackings to fix their woes. Since Jean Todt left the team in 2007, they have had five other team principals, none of whom have won a drivers’ title.
Ferrari’s chances of winning in 2025 are almost slim to none, with Leclerc being 127 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri and Hamilton a further 30 points back. All hope will now be on the 2026 F1 regulations for the famous red team to end their title drought.

| 1 | Oscar Piastri | 266 |
| 2 | Lando Norris | 250 |
| 3 | Max Verstappen | 185 |
| 4 | George Russell | 157 |
| 5 | Charles Leclerc | 139 |
| 6 | Lewis Hamilton | 109 |

By signing Vasseur to a new deal, Ferrari have the continuity they need to find success. Will Buxton reacted to the news on X, expressing his delight that the Maranello squad have kept him on board and that he will be the one to lead them to victory.
“Thank goodness for that. One of the finest leaders I’ve come across in racing. Can think of nobody who is better suited or more deserves to hold the wheel at the Scuderia than Fred. Success will come. It always does when he’s in charge,” he said.
