Lando Norris will take part in his 150th race in Formula 1 this weekend at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, and the current championship leader has recalled the ‘proudest achievement’ of his career thus far.
The entry will put Lando Norris on par with David Coulthard as the two drivers with the most appearances for McLaren in the constructor’s storied 59-year history on the grid.
He currently holds 11 Grand Prix victories to his name and is now on the cusp of securing a maiden world title in the sport, with Norris’ pole position at the Monaco Grand Prix this season serving as one of the most emotional moments of his career.
Just three rounds remain, including this weekend’s Las Vegas Grand Prix, and the British driver sits above his closest title rival, Oscar Piastri, by 24 points in the F1 standings. A few more decent points hauls will see his name etched in Formula 1 history.

Is Lando Norris underrated?
Lando Norris pinpoints his ‘proudest achievement’ in F1 as he approaches a new record with McLaren
During the pre-event press conference for the 2025 Las Vegas GP, Norris was asked to give a highlight and a lowlight from his career in F1 thus far, as well as the overall sentiment he has over his tenure in the sport.
He replied, via Pit Pass, “It’s crazy. It’s a big number, matching DC [David Coulthard] for amount of races with McLaren as well. So it’s not just races in Formula 1, it’s 150 with McLaren. So Qatar will be 151. So the most ‘racing-est’ driver for McLaren, whatever it is.
“That’s something I’m pretty proud of. It’s quite an achievement. 150 [races] in F1, like, this is my dream, you know? It’s been my dream since I was a kid, so to get that far, to get one is pretty incredible, but 150… Time certainly flies.
“I still remember Australia 2019, I still remember being on the grid there and the lights coming on and everything. So it doesn’t feel that long ago. Lowlight is tough to say. There are always tough moments in everyone’s career.
“Silverstone this year is probably my proudest achievement in terms of winning at home. It’s the one race in my career that I would want to win – at home, in Silverstone. So I would pick Silverstone as the proudest moment.
“My parents down there, the team, my fans, the grandstand – that was a moment that really brought me back to my childhood but also made me feel on top of the world for a few minutes. So that was certainly the best.”

Who will win the 2025 Formula 1 drivers’ championship?
Lando Norris has significantly matured as an F1 driver as his career has progressed
Off the back of his first taste of a title fight in F1 last season, Norris has displayed a completely new attitude in the current campaign, which is evident through his determination to claw his way back into the championship battle against Piastri.
Before the start of the 2025 season, commentator David Croft highlighted how well Norris had matured over the winter break, citing his verdict on McLaren’s championship hopes as something we may not have got out of him in the past.
Following his retirement from the Dutch Grand Prix in August, which saw him drop to 34 points behind Piastri in the standings, Norris has shown a different kind of resiliency than what we have seen from him in the past to overturn the deficit and retake control of the championship.
The momentum is well and truly back in favour of the 25-year-old, and, according to Christian Danner, Norris has unlocked a trait of Lewis Hamilton’s on the way.
The former F1 driver highlighted how Hamilton was able to come back bigger and better after every single Grand Prix victory, which is something that Norris has displayed during his recent purple patch when it has mattered the most.
