Karun Chandhok is stunned by what he’s heard about Ferrari’s plans for the 2025 season, when Lewis Hamilton is set to join.
It’s already been confirmed that Hamilton will depart Mercedes to join the Scuderia next year.
And Chandhok thinks he might just have pulled off a masterstroke after the latest news.
While Mercedes haven’t been able to match Red Bull since the start of the 2022 season, the move still appeared a gamble.
Hamilton has won six world championships during his time in Brackley, while Ferrari haven’t tasted glory in the constructors’ since 2008.
Some have drawn parallels to 2012, when the Briton opted to leave a McLaren team that had helped win the first of his titles.
Mercedes had finished fifth in the standings that year, but after the overhaul of the regulations in 2014, they established themselves as the dominant force in the sport.

Karun Chandhok wowed as Red Bull figures may join Lewis Hamilton
According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, three key individuals at Red Bull could make a move to Ferrari.
Aerodynamic management staff Alessandro Germani and David Morgan and head of performance Ben Waterhouse are all named as targets for the Prancing Horse.
If Ferrari are able to pull these deals off, Chandhok says Hamilton’s move may come to look inspired.
He wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Wow – La Gazetta (sic) are reporting that a whole bunch of senior Red Bull people could be on their way to Maranello soon….
“If it comes true, as was the case in 2013, Lewis could have once again pulled off a masterful team swap!”
Will Adrian Newey join Ferrari in 2025?
Perhaps the most coveted figure at Milton Keynes is chief designer Adrian Newey, architect of the RB19 car that won an unprecedented 21 out of 22 races last season.
Its successor, the RB20, has started in similarly ominous fashion with back-to-back one-two finishes in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Newey, formerly of McLaren and Williams, has been the mastermind behind 12 constructors’ titles during his time in F1.
Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft says he ‘would love to see’ the 65-year-old link up with Hamilton at Ferrari.
Ex-F1 driver Gerhard Berger could see Newey going if Max Verstappen makes a sensational move to Mercedes.
