Gerhard Berger has shared which two key members of staff will leave Red Bull Racing if star driver Max Verstappen departs the team.
He may have started the season in the best way possible with maximum points in Bahrain, but Max Verstappen’s future is suddenly being discussed.
As quoted by F1 Insider, Gerhard Berger believes a pair of Red Bull’s most important employees may move on sooner rather than later.
Berger thinks two key staff leave if Verstappen moves on
After winning three world championships on the bounce, Max Verstappen has got his latest title defence off to the perfect start.
He heads to Jeddah with maximum points after coasting to victory in Bahrain.
However, his long-term future within Red Bull is suddenly being questioned due to issues within the team happening away from the track.
Red Bull’s success isn’t purely down to Verstappen’s brilliance, but Sergio Perez’s performances last year showed he wouldn’t have been able to control races in the same way.
The Austrian team will therefore be concerned that Verstappen is reportedly the ‘hottest candidate’ to replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes
Gerhard Berger believes that if he makes the switch to the Silver Arrows, Helmut Marko and Adrian Newey might leave too.
It would be a huge blow to the team and potentially spell the end of their dominance of Formula 1.

Red Bull at risk of losing key personnel
Speaking about the current situation at Red Bull, Berger said: “As of now: Horner stays, Helmut Marko and Adrian Newey quit and Max goes to Mercedes.”
With Red Bull so far ahead of the rest of the grid on the track, attention has very much turned to what’s going on off it.
There’s reportedly a clause in Max Verstappen’s contract that would allow him to leave before the end of his 2028 deal if Helmut Marko goes.
Meanwhile, Adrian Newey has been on Ferrari’s radar for such a long time and the thought of him teaming up with Lewis Hamilton next year is frightening.
While Berger thinks Newey, Marko and Verstappen could all leave Red Bull, nothing has happened yet.
Plenty could change in the coming days, weeks and months and nothing ever seems to be set in stone when it comes to Formula 1.
