Jos Verstappen hasn’t hidden his feeling about Red Bull Racing throughout the season and has given his verdict on his son Max Verstappen’s antics at the Mexico City Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen is on course to secure a fourth consecutive Drivers’ Championship although Lando Norris continues to close the gap in the standings.
However, with just four race weekends left, Norris needs Verstappen to fail to score points at one Grand Prix when he’s standing on the top step of the podium to give himself a realistic chance.
Verstappen and Red Bull were at the centre of plenty of controversy during the Mexico City Grand Prix.

The Dutchman’s teammate Sergio Perez earned the first penalty of the race by starting outside of the grid box and eventually ended up finishing last after sustaining damage in a battle with Liam Lawson.
Verstappen earned two ten-second penalties in the space of four corners racing against Norris.
He ran Norris wide at turn four before overtaking the Brit off the track heading through the rapid turn seven.
Jos Verstappen was speaking to De Telegraaf about Max’s race and the penalties he picked up.

While the two-time podium driver – who last raced in F1 in 2003 – believed that his son deserved a penalty for the second incident, he aimed his ire at Red Bull instead.
It’s the latest time Jos Verstappen has been left frustrated with the team that has helped Max win three F1 titles.
Why Jos Verstappen was so upset with Red Bull after the Mexico City Grand Prix
Asked about Max’s driving style, Jos Verstappen said: “Norris may now think even more: ‘I have to be careful’.
“If you look at Sunday’s actions, Max’s second moment was perhaps a bit too much.
“But he lets this happen to him. You can talk about it for a long time, but it doesn’t make any difference. Max has to drive the way he wants.

“He has to do this because the car is not good enough and he is doing everything he can to win the title.
“But Max is not going to change his driving style because there were a few stewards present who don’t sit well with him anyway.”
Jos Verstappen looking at other options on the grid for Max Verstappen
Verstappen is unsurprisingly the subject of interest from several other teams in the paddock.
Although a frenetic driver’s market is nearly over for this year, as Ferrari showed with Lewis Hamilton, teams will find a space for a driver of Verstappen’s calibre if an opportunity arises.

Mercedes have been interested in Verstappen for some time, but they’ve now committed to George Russell and Kimi Antonelli for next year.
Aston Martin have also spotted an opportunity to try and sign Verstappen, and their hiring of Adrian Newey alongside securing Honda engines from 2026 onwards could end up being a key factor.
Both Verstappens have concerns about Red Bull going forward and the team losing so many key personnel over the past few months won’t help matters.
Winning the Drivers’ Championship is vital for Red Bull to keep Verstappen, even if Perez’s issues have all but ended their hopes of securing both titles.
