Franco Colapinto is attracting interest from multiple teams ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season. Williams can’t offer the outstanding newcomer a seat because they’ve already confirmed Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.
However, in tandem with Colapinto’s management, Williams team principal James Vowles is now seeking a solution. He could loan him out or release him for a fee.
One journalist says Red Bull are ready to pay ‘a few million’ to sign Colapinto. They could place him at junior team RB next to Yuki Tsunoda or even pair him with Max Verstappen at the senior team, though that’s less likely.

However, Williams are demanding up to four times what Christian Horner is willing to pay. As such, Red Bull could ask Colapinto’s sponsors to contribute.
Meanwhile, Alpine are also interested in Colapinto. On the surface, that move would be a somewhat confusing move given that they’ve already signed Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan for 2025.
But it emerged this week that Doohan only has a contract for the first five races. While Colapinto would be a reserve driver at first, he could quickly ascend to a full-time race seat.
Franco Colapinto’s manager says he has a ’20 out of 10′ chance of racing in Formula 1 next year
During an interview with Argentine outlet Campeones, Colapinto’s manager Maria Catarineu was asked to rate his chances of appearing on the 2025 grid. In an extremely bullish response, she put them at ’20’ out of 10.
Host Jorge Luis Legnani seemingly couldn’t believe what he’d heard. But Catarineu stressed that ‘so many people’ are pushing for the 21-year-old to stay in F1.
Colapinto had heavily hinted he’d race elsewhere in 2025 with a view to returning further down the line. But it appears his team have made progress on an immediate solution.
“On a scale of 1 to 10, what do you think are the chances that Franco will be racing next year?” Legnani asked.
Catarineu replied: “Twenty.”
“I’ll repeat,” said Legnani. “Did you understand the question?”
“I understood it perfectly,” Catarineu insisted. “Man, I think that when so many people are putting so much intention that something should happen… it would be fair that it should happen.”
Franco Colapinto made his manager ‘angry’ after what he said about Williams merchandise
Colapinto suffered the first real blip of his Formula 1 career in Brazil last weekend. 12th place in the Sprint was a solid effort, but he crashed twice on a wet Sunday.
The first of those accidents led to a Q1 exit, and the second – under safety car conditions on an extremely treacherous track – ended his race early. It will be a valuable learning experience.
Red Bull will evaluate Colapinto over the last three race weekends. After Sauber signed Gabriel Bortoleto, they’re the only team still in the market, so they can afford to be patient.
The Argentine has won over an enormous number of fans, above all in his homeland, with his scintillating speed and charm. However, Colapinto did make his manager ‘angry’ when he told fans to buy fake merchandise because the authentic Williams designs were too expensive.
