Formula 1 fans are in uproar that the Las Vegas Grand Prix has signed a new contract through at least the 2037 season yet the Belgian GP at Spa is now a rotational round.
F1 announced late on Thursday night that it will continue to run races on the Las Vegas Strip beyond the next decade as part of a new 10-year contract for the race. The deal to continue staging the Las Vegas GP followed F1 securing full commitments from relevant local parties.
Clark County officials and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) realise the economic impact that hosting an F1 race has brought to Sin City since the first Las Vegas GP in 2023. F1 notes the race has delivered $3.2bn (£2.4m) for the Southern Nevada region.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the inaugural Las Vegas GP in 2023, and he made more history in Sin City in 2024 when the Dutchman won his fourth F1 drivers’ championship title. George Russell won the 2024 Las Vegas GP from pole, while Verstappen won the 2025 race.

But F1 committing to racing in Las Vegas through at least 2037, while the Belgian GP at Spa is now a rotational event through 2031, has not gone down well with most fans. One F1 fan noted on Reddit: “So, Vegas every year for a decade, while Spa has to skip years? Booooo!”

F1 announced its latest contract extension with Spa-Francorchamps to continue holding the Belgian GP in the Ardennes forest in January 2025. F1 also confirmed that Spa will only hold the Belgian GP in the 2026, 2027, 2029 and 2031 seasons as part of the circuit’s contract.
So, one fan reacted to the news of the Las Vegas GP’s new contract by claiming: “Miami and Vegas for a thousand years, but Spa can go f— itself, apparently.” Another F1 fan suggested: “It’s a joke, right? Because we can’t have Spa on rotation and this for another 10 years…”
The Las Vegas GP’s new contract also tempted one fan to say: “Well, I want Spa back on a yearly schedule then.” Another fan offered similar thoughts, noting: “Now I feel even more bad about Spa.” A fan on X even noted: “Great… Now extend Spa to every year until 2087.”
F1 will visit the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya during the years in which Spa is not staging the Belgium GP (2028, 2030 and 2032) after announcing a new contract with the circuit in Montmelo in February 2026. Barcelona and Spa will both stage rounds in the 2026 season.
The Dutch Grand Prix will also cease staging Formula 1 races after the 2026 season, having failed to agree to a new contract with F1 that would suit both parties back in 2024. Instead, F1 returns Istanbul Park and Portimao in 2027, to revive the Turkish GP and Portuguese GP.
Portimao signed a two-year contract with F1 in December 2025 to revive the Portuguese GP during the 2027 and 2028 seasons. Likewise, F1 confirmed the return of the Turkish GP this April, with Istanbul Park returning to the calendar on a five-year contract from next season.
