Spa-Francorchamps has already signed a new extension, which will see the Belgian GP be rotated off the calendar in 2028 and 2030. The Dutch GP will drop off the calendar after 2026, with Portimao now potentially replacing it, although that has not been confirmed yet.
The Portuguese Grand Prix has a rich history in F1, hosting its first race in Porto in 1958. It has since gone on to host events at Monsanto and Estoril, before moving to Portimao in the 2020s.

Portuguese Grand Prix to return to Formula 1 in 2027 and 2028
Portimao last hosted a race in 2020 and 2021 during the seasons affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Lewis Hamilton won both races, with his second victory in 2021 seeing him surpass Michael Schumacher’s all-time win record.
Now, the Portuguese GP will return to the calendar in 2027 and 2028. Speaking in a press release, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said: “I’m delighted to see Portimão return to the Formula 1 calendar and for the sport to continue to ignite the passion of our incredible Portuguese fanbase.
