Charles Leclerc has been incredibly loyal to Ferrari throughout his racing career, but that loyalty might be tested in the future.

Ferrari are having a disappointing 2025 season, and with three races to go, they’re still waiting for their first Grand Prix victory.

Charles Leclerc has been the more impressive Ferrari driver in 2025 and has scored all seven of the team’s podiums this year.

However, Ralf Schumacher has suggested John Elkann’s recent comments might be about Leclerc’s future, with the Monegasque driver potentially becoming more and more frustrated with being unable to challenge for a drivers’ championship.

The F1 driver market is going to play a key role next season, with teams and drivers discovering whether or not they’ve named the upcoming regulation changes.

Journalist Leo Turrini has now addressed Leclerc’s future, and believes that his manager, Nicolas Todt, has been ‘repeatedly contacted’ by senior figures from rivals Aston Martin.

Aston Martin senior figures have ‘repeatedly contacted’ Charles Leclerc’s manager

Turrini was writing in his column about Leclerc’s future and said: “It comes as no surprise that Nicolas Todt has been repeatedly contacted by Aston Martin executives in recent times.

“The son of the legendary French Penguin is, among other things, also Charles Leclerc’s manager.

“And a good agent has a duty, not just a right, to evaluate every option in the interests of his client.

“After all, Aston Martin (Stroll Sr. is trying to sell the brand for production cars but seems unwilling to give up the team, which Christian Horner has been considering together with powerful investment funds), after all, as I was saying, Aston Martin will have Newey’s car and Honda’s engine from 2026, and again in 2027, because we are talking about that deadline, Fernando Alonso will be closer to fifty than forty.

“All this to say that we need to carefully observe the movements (behind the scenes) of those who represent the top drivers.

“At present, we are in the phase that was once called “surplace” in track cycling.

“Everyone is standing still on their pedals, but in reality, they are ready to sprint. Precisely for 2027.

“At the centre of the domino effect is Max Verstappen. What will the almost former world champion do?

“I have just written about Leclerc and the appetites he arouses. If the Rossa doesn’t work out in 2026, who would bet on Charles staying at Maranello?”

F1 fans think Charles Leclerc won’t ever win a championship at Ferrari

Leclerc is closing in on 150 Grand Prix starts for Ferrari in his Formula 1 career, a number that only Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen have surpassed.

The Iceman won Ferrari’s last drivers’ championship in 2007, and Schumacher is Ferrari’s most successful driver by a considerable distance.

Leclerc has only won eight races in his career, but his record of 27 pole positions highlights that he’s more than fast enough to be a championship challenger in the right car.

Who will win the 2025 Formula 1 drivers’ championship?

F1 Oversteer fans voted in a TalkingPoints poll on whether Leclerc or Hamilton would ever win a title with Ferrari, and the results won’t make for pretty reading for Fred Vasseur.

It’s also believed that Leclerc is on Aston Martin’s radar for 2027 as they look to refresh their line-up and win their first Formula 1 titles.

Leclerc has been loyal to Ferrari throughout his career, but it’s time for the Scuderia to repay that faith.
