Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has already admitted that the 2026 Formula 1 season is his ‘now or never’ moment with the team.
Charles Leclerc is entering his eighth campaign as a Ferrari driver, and by the end of this year, only Michael Schumacher will have started more races for the Scuderia.
Schumacher enjoyed unprecedented success with Ferrari, but Leclerc is still waiting for his first true championship challenge.

He finished second to Max Verstappen in 2022, but was nearly 150 points behind the Dutchman by the end of the campaign.
Last season was a disaster for Ferrari as they failed to win a Grand Prix and only had Lewis Hamilton’s Sprint Race win in China to celebrate.
This has led to speculation about Hamilton potentially considering his options if Ferrari’s 2026 car isn’t up to scratch, and Leclerc’s future is far from certain alongside him.

Charles Leclerc’s management have been looking at Ferrari alternatives ‘for months’
Leclerc is one of the most highly-rated drivers in Formula 1, and arguably the best qualifier out of the current crop on the grid.
However, his inability to convert pole positions into victories, his 27 starts from P1 have led to just eight victories, which means there are question marks over his racecraft.
It’s hard to imagine any team in the paddock would turn their noses up at Leclerc should he become available in the driver market.
A report from Swiss journalist Roger Benoit in Blick has provided more information on Leclerc’s future.
It’s believed that Leclerc’s ‘management has been looking around for an alternative for 2027 for months now’.
Do you think Ferrari can fight back to the top with Leclerc? 🤔
This is because there is a concern within Leclerc’s camp that Ferrari will once again fail to deliver a ‘good car’.
It’s an issue Leclerc has had to deal with on multiple occasions, as the Scuderia have failed to build on their potential.
At the end of the 2024 season, Leclerc was the most in-form driver in Formula 1, but his failure to win a race the following year, as the SF-25 was so far off the pace, has left many questioning whether Ferrari will ever produce a championship-winning car again.

Which Formula 1 teams could sign Charles Leclerc if he decides to leave Ferrari in 2027?
It’s hard to believe that any team would overlook Leclerc if they needed to fill a seat next season, given his pedigree.
Leclerc has been linked with Red Bull as a potential replacement for Max Verstappen if he moved on, and if either of Mercedes or McLaren’s drivers needed to be replaced, he would be high on their list of options.
One of the most interesting teams that could make a move for Leclerc would be Aston Martin.
Leclerc reportedly received an offer from Aston Martin, as there’s a chance that Fernando Alonso will retire at the end of the campaign.
Any other team in the paddock would jump at the chance of signing Leclerc, but whether they would live up to his expectations could be another issue.
Ferrari’s performance at the start of the season could have a huge impact on the driver market, with Hamilton and Leclerc expecting more going into 2026.
