Charles Leclerc’s manager has said that he needs to have a ‘winning car’, a message that will be eagerly received by interested parties.
Leclerc’s dream is to win the title with Ferrari and he will be looking for a reason to stay. A product of the team’s driver academy, he has raced for the Scuderia since 2019.
But as he approaches 150 race starts for the team – he will hit that benchmark at the season-ending Abu Dhabi GP – his win tally still stands at eight. He hasn’t had the opportunity to increase it this season, though he has scored seven podiums.
Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari future
Leclerc’s runner-up finish in 2022 – some 146 points behind Max Verstappen – remains his best showing. He can’t take for granted that Ferrari will deliver him a car worthy of the championship while he’s still in his prime.
Aston Martin formalise Charles Leclerc interest with an offer
Italian journalist Leo Turrini recently revealed that Aston Martin have repeatedly contacted Charles Leclerc about joining in 2027. This reflects Lawrence Stroll’s immense ambition.
The Canadian businessman has recruited Adrian Newey, regarded by some as the greatest designer in F1 history, along with Andy Cowell, the mastermind of Mercedes’ engine dominance in the turbo/hybrid era.
Stroll is investing nearly £800m into Aston Martin, who will enjoy an exclusive Honda engine deal from 2026.
Nicolas Todt on Charles Leclerc’s future
In the print edition of Quotidiano Sportivo, Turrini now says ‘it is known’ that Leclerc has an ‘offer’ from the Silverstone outfit. Intriguingly, this isn’t the ‘only offer’ he’s received.
Though his contract lasts until the end of 2029, Leclerc reportedly negotiated an exit clause for 2026, allowing him to assess how Ferrari – and their rivals – perform under the new regulations.
Are Aston Martin no longer prioritising Max Verstappen?
Aston Martin had previously been strongly linked with Max Verstappen, but it appears their focus may now be shifting towards Leclerc.
Verstappen’s run of four straight titles clearly makes him the most desirable driver on the market. The question for Stroll, who may soon need a replacement for the 44-year-old Fernando Alonso, is whether he’s attainable.
Mercedes are already in talks with Verstappen for 2027 and have long been the favourites to get him.
Toto Wolff has spoken to Leclerc too, which underlines that the futures of F1’s top drivers are very much interlinked.
