F1 rookie Arvid Lindblad has issued his verdict on the ongoing debate between who the better F1 driver is out of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, with Racing Bulls’ newest star opting for the four-time world champion.

The discussion surrounding Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen’s position in the pecking order of F1’s all-time greats has been rampant ever since the two drivers locked horns in 2021.

The Red Bull star proved to be victorious on that occasion, but has yet to reach the same heights as the seven-time world champion in terms of title count.

Nevertheless, there’s more to it than simply going off the number of accolades a certain driver has. Many talented competitors have been through the ranks in F1 only to end their career without a world title, with it often being considered a game of being in the right team at the right time to be able to succeed.

As the only F1 rookie on the grid in 2026, Arvid Lindblad has weighed in with his verdict on who the better F1 driver is.

Arvid Lindblad doesn’t hesitate as he chooses Max Verstappen over ‘prime’ Lewis Hamilton

In a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Lindblad was asked a series of quick-fire questions on several topics surrounding F1.

In one of the questions, the young British driver was asked which driver, at the peak of their abilities, would see the chequered flag first in a race between Hamilton and Verstappen.

Without hesitation, Lindblad answered, “Verstappen.” The Racing Bulls driver was unable to elaborate further on his answer due to the quick-fire nature of the interview, but he has heaped praise on the four-time world champion in the past.

Verstappen was a staunch ally of Lindblad’s in the lead-up to his F1 debut, with the 18-year-old noting how “humble” he was in aiding his preparations.

As the 2026 F1 season kicked off last weekend in Australia, Lindblad was given his first taste of going wheel-to-wheel with the Red Bull legend in a battle that garnered praise from Martin Brundle.

The F1 pundit hailed Lindblad for being able to resist the ‘extreme pressure’ that Verstappen was exerting on him from behind, and even more so for his ability to secure some debut points with an impressive P8 finish.

Now, Lindblad’s verdict on the battle between Hamilton and Verstappen in the all-time debate certainly wasn’t meant to throw shade on the achievements that the Ferrari star has accomplished in his career.

In fact, Hamilton was one of the drivers whom Lindblad was most excited to race against upon his full debut in the pinnacle of single-seater motor racing.

With the 41-year-old’s status as one of the few F1 drivers of colour in the sport’s 75-year history, he offers solace to a completely different demographic who aren’t equally represented on the grid.

For Lindblad, he noted that he feels a “deep connection” with Hamilton because of it, and noted that he is looking forward to the opportunity of going wheel-to-wheel with him this season.
