Alpine currently sit bottom of the constructors’ championship heading into the second half of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Despite Red Bull parting ways with Christian Horner and Ferrari considering the future of Fred Vasseur, it’s once again Alpine who have been the most turbulent team in the paddock.
Oliver Oakes resigned earlier in the season, leaving Flavio Briatore in de facto charge, with Steve Nielsen set to join from the FIA later in the year.
CEO Luca de Meo is also moving on, while Alpine will not use Renault power units from 2026 onwards, instead deciding to become a Mercedes customer team.

Formula 1 teams rarely function well on the track when there is so much change away from it.
Before the 2025 F1 season even started, there was speculation about Jack Doohan’s future.
Doohan was replaced by Franco Colapinto after just six races, but at the halfway stage of the campaign, that side of the Alpine garage still has no points.
Although it appears unlikely that Doohan will make a comeback, Colapinto’s future appears to be very precarious.
It now looks like Alpine are preparing to make a switch if results don’t improve and have put an ‘offer on the table’ for Mercedes reserve driver Valtteri Bottas.

Valtteri Bottas has an ‘offer on the table’ from Alpine to replace Franco Colapinto
Journalist Jake Boxall-Legge was speaking about Alpine on the James Allen on F1 Podcast.
Discussing what could happen alongside Pierre Gasly, he said: “So, for the second seat, it’s anyone’s game, isn’t it?
“Valtteri Bottas has been linked to it. I think the rules say that you can only have four drivers unless in the case of force majeure.
“So, that would mean that if they had to make a further change, then that would put Doohan or Colapinto back in the seat.
“I don’t see either of them in that car next year.

“And I think they do have an offer on the table for Bottas, actually. Perez has been linked to the team.
“There are options out there. It just seems to be very, let’s put it charitably and say very dynamic at the moment in that second seat.
“But yeah, I’m not really sure what they want to do with it, to be quite honest.”

Should Valtteri Bottas choose Alpine or Cadillac as he seeks a Formula 1 return?
Bottas appears to be spoilt for choice when it comes to attempting to make a return to the F1 grid.
Alpine may offer an immediate return to action, but the Finn – who has 20 pole positions to his name – has been stung before by joining the slowest team on the grid.
| Grand Prix starts | 246 |
| Pole positions | 20 |
| Podiums | 67 |
| Wins | 10 |
| Fastest laps | 19 |
| Points | 1797 |
| Best finish | 2nd (2019, 2020) |
It cost him his seat at Sauber, and the likes of Alpine and Williams all made Bottas their second choice when determining their driver line-ups for 2022.
Bottas is also one of Cadillac’s preferred options ahead of their Formula 1 debut in 2026.
The American team would be doing brilliantly if they weren’t the slowest team on the grid next year.
But they might provide far more security to Bottas than an Alpine team, who seem to chop and change more than most of their rivals.
