Plenty of drivers will be on the lookout for the best seat possible heading into 2025 as their contracts expire and Pierre Gasly might have done enough to make his next step up.

Pierre Gasly only joined Alpine at the start of last season, but the team stood still as the likes of McLaren and Aston Martin made big strides forward around them.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Peter Windsor admits the 27-year-old has done enough to earn a better seat elsewhere.

The noises coming out of Alpine this winter have been far from encouraging.

David Croft admitted that he’s not heard brilliant things about their 2024 car from the simulator.

There were sweeping changes made to the management structure of the French outfit last year and they’re starting to take effect now.

However, both Pierre Gasly and teammate Esteban Ocon are coming to the end of their contracts this year.

It’s already been suggested that Alpine might look at options in the market instead of retaining both drivers.

Windsor has admitted that he thinks Gasly deserves a decent seat for 2025 after outscoring Ocon during his first year with the team.

Eddie Jordan has been raving about the Ocon who has been touted for a move to Audi when they join the F1 grid.

While F1 rival Nico Hulkenberg believes people have been underestimating Gasly for some time.

Gasly deserves decent seat for 2025 – Windsor

Speaking about the one-time race winner, Windsor said: “I think Pierre Gasly might get himself a decent drive somewhere.

“I think he’s continuing to impress in terms of his outright pace and his ability really to race.

“He seems a bit accident-prone and sort of incident-prone and he needs to tidy up that side of his racing a little bit, but generally speaking I think he’s the guy that might find himself a decent seat.”

What’s worrying for Alpine is that drivers are being warned away from joining the seat should Gasly find a new seat for 2025.

It’s been suggested that Sergio Perez is ‘too damaged’ to join the French outfit, while Alex Albon has been told to ‘steer clear’ of leaving Williams for Alpine.

The French team need to find a way to improve their performance this year, despite question marks over their power unit.

Otherwise, they’ll be dragged into a battle at the back rather than regularly challenging for points.
