The future of Sergio Perez at Red Bull is set to be a huge talking point in 2024, but if he does need to find a new team for 2025, French outfit Alpine may not be the answer.
The Mexican driver was clinging onto a seat at Red Bull at times last year as he watched Max Verstappen go on the longest winning streak in Formula 1 history.
He’s now entered the final year of his contract and of all the potential options available to him, journalist Ben Anderson has suggested that he might be ‘too damaged’ to consider a move to Alpine.
The Red Bull system is incredibly intense and has proved too much for many drivers.
Alex Albon has previously spoken about his experience within the team and the measures he took to try and make the grade.
Sergio Perez started the 2023 campaign in brilliant form and looked like a genuine challenger to Verstappen.
However, the Dutchman took his performances up several levels and broke record after record in 2023.
Perez’s future at Red Bull is far from certain and he’ll need to be at the top of his game to potentially earn a new deal.
One team that might consider a move for Perez in 2025 if he becomes available is Alpine.
The team took a step backwards last year, watching Aston Martin leapfrog them in the development race.
However, the 33-year-old has been warned that a move to Alpine would be a bad move.

Perez told not to consider Alpine move in 2025
Speaking about the prospect of Perez joining the successor Renault, Anderson said: “I honestly think [Sergio] Perez is too damaged by his experience at Red Bull to be considered the right option there.”
Alpine have been through a huge amount of upheaval in the past 12 months, sacking half of their management team midway through the Belgian Grand Prix last year.
While there are suggestions that improvements have already been made to their 2024 car, David Croft has shared that he’s heard bad news about their simulator performance.
There is a chance that Alpine let both Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon go at the end of the season.
Ocon is one highly-rated option for Audi before their introduction to Formula 1 in 2026.
However, Perez needs a more settled environment if he’s going to succeed away from Red Bull in 2025 and Alpine is not the answer.
The Mexican will not be short of options on the F1 grid, although there’s another series trying to convince him to make a career switch.
