Williams star Alex Albon has been told to stay away from joining Alpine in 2025 if offered the opportunity.
The 27-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Williams and there’s already talk that he’s considering a move elsewhere.
However, speaking on The Race Podcast, journalist Ben Anderson has told the Thai driver that he would be better off staying where he is rather than joining his mid-table rival.
The futures of several Formula 1 drivers could depend on Alex Albon’s next move in his career.
Like so many of his rivals, the 27-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season.
Albon is keen to explore other options on the grid and has not hidden his dream of one day racing for Ferrari.
He outperformed his Williams last season, almost single-handedly guiding the team to seventh in the Constructors’ Championship.
They only finished one position below Alpine in the standings, although there was a large points difference between the two teams.
However, if Albon is going to move on from Williams in 2025, he’s been told that a move to Alpine would be a bad decision.
The French team are considering switching up their driver line-up as well and it’ll be fascinating to see who is in their cars in 12 months.

Albon warned against Alpine move in 2025
Speaking about the 27-year-old’s future, Anderson said: “Yeah, I think Albon would probably steer clear. I think he would be coveted enough or maybe be better off as being Williams’s team leader for a bit longer than going there alongside [Pierre] Gasly.
“So, I would rule that one out.”
It’s hard to know what to expect from Alpine heading into this season.
They’ve already discovered an issue with their power unit which means they can’t use it to its full potential right now.
There’s also talk that the car’s performance in the simulator over the winter has been concerning, to say the least.
They were left in no man’s land last year, incapable of challenging the top five teams, but sufficiently quicker than the four manufacturers below them.
While Williams are making no promises that they’re suddenly going to take a big leap forward in performance, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the gap close.
It means if Albon is left with the choice of Alpine or Williams for the 2025 season, he might be better off staying where he is.
While it seems unlikely now that a bigger team won’t come in for him, you never know how the F1 drivers’ market is going to shake out.
Only time will tell where the talented 27-year-old ends up in the future.
