24-year-old could be ‘sick and tired’ of teammate and ‘keen to leave’ by end of 2024

Formula 1 journalist Peter Windsor has admitted that he thinks Lando Norris will be ‘sick and tired’ of McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri by the end of the season.

McLaren have arguably the most exciting driver line-up on the grid right now.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Peter Windsor believes that the pairing might not last for long.

McLaren are the only team on the grid to have revealed their livery for the upcoming season.

Lando Norris has already shared his reaction and will be hoping the team can build on their success from last year.

After getting the better of Daniel Ricciardo during his time at McLaren, he had a different Aussie to compete against in 2023.

Oscar Piastri arrived from Alpine’s academy with a big reputation and last year he lived up to the hype.

He already has a Sprint Race win to his name and a couple of podiums too.

Peter Windsor has now suggested that Norris might end up wanting to leave McLaren because of Piastri by the end of the year.

Although he has a contract until the end of 2025, he’s not going to be short of potential suitors.

Red Bull have always been keen on Norris, although it might cost them a fortune to bring him in as Sergio Perez’s replacement.

Windsor thinks Norris will get sick of Piastri

Speaking about the 24-year-old Brit’s upcoming season, Windsor said: “I think Lando [Norris] will be pretty sick and tired of Oscar Piastri by the end of 2024 and he’ll be pretty keen to leave and do something, hopefully with a Ferrari or a Red Bull.

“But if not, maybe an Aston [Martin] or something if Fernando [Alonso] doesn’t race in 2025.

“But I think that Fernando will want to race in 2025, but if he doesn’t, he’s a guy that might go there.”

Aston Martin would love to be able to sign a driver like Norris but it’s very unlikely that he could take a step down based on last season’s results.

Ferrari are also keen on Norris, but as a replacement for Carlos Sainz who could sign a new deal soon.

Windsor’s suggestion that Norris will get sick of Piastri doesn’t look likely right now, but Piastri should close the gap with his teammate this year.

Norris has never had to deal with a partner who can really push him and if he wants to be the undisputed number one in a team then maybe he does have to move on.

However, right now, the team and Norris both believe in each other and think they can win races and potentially even titles together in the future.

It would take a big change in that relationship for Norris to consider leaving next winter.
