Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton has provided his opinion on Red Bull’s 2024 Formula 1 car after watching it over three days of pre-season testing.

After a long winter break, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez took to the track in Sakhir and set tongues wagging with a heavily redesigned car.

Speaking after the test, via The Athletic, Lewis Hamilton shared a short but sweet verdict on the RB20.

Hamilton gives throughs on Red Bull’s 2024 F1 car

Red Bull produced the most dominant season in Formula 1 history in 2023, winning 21 out of a possible 22 Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen led the way with 19 victories and most of the grid would have expected to see small improvements to the RB19.

Instead, Red Bull revealed a car that looked significantly different which at first glance seemed like a gamble.

However, Verstappen’s exceptional pace on day one of testing suggests that actually, the decision to build a very different car rather than evolve their old one – which has inspired many of their rivals’ vehicles this year – looks like a masterstroke.

Lewis Hamilton has now shared what he thinks of Red Bull’s 2024 car as he looks to win his first race since 2021.

The 39-year-old was the best of the rest in the Drivers’ Standings in 2023 but couldn’t secure a win due to Red Bull’s dominance.

It likely played a part in his decision to move to Ferrari in 2025 where he hopes he’ll have a better chance of securing that eighth world title.

Early signs are ominous as Red Bull seek to continue their dominance

When Hamilton was asked about his thoughts on the new Red Bull he simply said that they were ‘out in the distance’ compared to his Mercedes.

Red Bull’s design supremo Adrian Newey is said to be very impressed with one particular part of Hamilton’s 2024 Mercedes.

And while that may give them a small advantage over their rivals, the overall package of the RB20 already looks unstoppable.

Sergio Perez suffered from a few reliability issues during the three-day test in Bahrain which may give the rest of the grid some hope for the 2024 season.

However, we’ve likely not even come close to seeing the car’s full potential.

The lap Verstappen or Perez will produce in qualifying on Friday will give us a much better indication of how far out in front Red Bull are at the start of this season.
