Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur doesn’t appear to be slowing down as he tries to build the strongest Formula 1 team possible and Red Bull technical director Pierre Wache is the latest person on his radar.
Although the 2024 season hasn’t even started yet, there’s already plenty of excitement for 2025 when Lewis Hamilton heads to Ferrari.
Speaking on The Race Podcast, Dutch journalist and commentator Nelson Valkenberg has shared what he’s heard about the 49-year-old’s future.
Vasseur wants to bring Wache to Ferrari
After their domination last season, it’s hard to believe that anyone will be able to compete with Red Bull this year.
Their closest rivals will be hoping to have made big steps forward over the winter to try and close the gap.
However, Red Bull have some incredibly talented people working behind the scenes to deliver Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez the fastest car possible.
Adrian Newey earns plenty of plaudits and understandably so given his long-term success within Formula 1.
Technical director Pierre Wache has also done a fantastic job and that’s why Frederic Vasseur wants to bring him to Ferrari.

The pair worked together at Sauber where Frederic Vasseur became team principal after Wache had made the switch to Red Bull.
The 55-year-old has previously worked with Lewis Hamilton before and that may have played a part in the seven-time world champion making the switch to Ferrari next year.
He’ll now be hoping that his relationship with Wache can help him secure another top target.
Ferrari preparing for F1 title challenge in 2025
Speaking about Wache’s future, Valkenberg said: “There’s a lot of pressure for Christian Horner to resolve this whole situation.
“You know Fred Vasseur has Pierre Wache’s number. He will be calling to find that final bit on his technical team, get one key name from either Mercedes but mostly Red Bull, I expect him to really target Wache.
“So, stability in the team is also going to be key in that fight in the future with the likes of Ferrari.”
Vasseur will know just how important having the right people around him at Ferrari is and Wache certainly fits the bill.
Poaching the most successful people from the likes of Red Bull and Mercedes is only going to help their cause.
Charles Leclerc and especially Carlos Sainz won’t want to wait 12 months for those changes to take place.
However, it may turn out that 2026 is Ferrari’s best chance of finally winning another title when the next set of major regulation changes are introduced in F1.
