Toyota, the world’s largest car manufacturer, first entered the pinnacle of motorsport as a works Formula 1 team and engine manufacturer in 2002. But Toyota withdrew from F1 after the 2009 season without winning a single Grand Prix after reporting billions in losses amid the economic depression.
