Symonds left his position as the chief technical officer for Formula 1 Management (FOM) to join the American team as Andretti initially sought to join F1 in May 2024.
Symonds was a lead figure in FOM’s assistance to the FIA with creating future Formula 1 car regulations. He has a wealth of experience after working for Benetton (1997-2000) and Renault (2001-09) as their technical director and as Williams’ chief technical officer (2013-16).
