McLaren driver Lando Norris will be left wondering what could have been after the last two race weekends.
He should arguably have his first Sprint Race victory under his belt and two more Grand Prix wins to go with it.
Lando Norris admitted that he made some ‘pretty shocking decisions’ – via F1’s Youtube channel – during the Sprint Race at the Red Bull Ring that saw him go from 1st to 3rd in one lap.
In the Grand Prix, he was faster than race leader Max Verstappen going into the final laps, but a controversial collision saw him forced to retire from the race and hand victory to Mercedes rival George Russell.
Then Norris was left frustrated by two calls that cost him the chance to lead multiple world champions Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen to the chequered flag at his home on Sunday.
Former F1 driver Alex Wurz has now shared on the F1 Nation Podcast why Norris’s engineer at McLaren will be annoyed with his performance at the British Grand Prix.

When the grid is this close, the smallest mistakes can be the difference between victory and defeat.
Martin Brundle admitted Ferrari didn’t help Norris when he came in for his final pit stop.
But his mistake when not stopping on his marks when changing onto the soft tyres for the last stint of the race potentially cost him dearly.

Alex Wurz shares why Lando Norris’s engineer will be annoyed with him at Silverstone
Talking about the error Norris made during his pit stop where he overshot his box, Wurz said: “Oh no, your engineer notices and he will throw the paper with the one-tenth lost at the pit entry around your ears.
“It is always about the incredible detail and hundredths of a second in Formula 1 but it is now so beautifully displayed to the people, who of course want to see the fight for the lead.
“It’s why the midfield battle is sometimes terribly exciting but it’s the battle for the lead that gets the millions of viewers each and every race.”
Asked how easy it is to miss your pit box, Wurz added: “It’s absolutely easy to do but everyone has done it. It shouldn’t happen, so you have to be hard on yourself.
“And in this case, I remember working with Pat Symonds who said, Look, if you do mistakes on the pit entry, I’ve give you an exam.’”

Jenson Button sends Lando Norris warning after disappointing British Grand Prix result
Lando Norris is developing a reputation for being one of the fastest drivers on the grid and also the most self-critical.
A year ago, Norris was delighted that McLaren’s update package was giving him the chance to finish on the podium.
Now that the grid has converged and McLaren have arguably the fastest car on the grid, any error is critical and race wins might be slipping away from the 24-year-old.
However, Jenson Button has told Norris to be careful when it comes to reflecting too harshly on his recent results.
He was competing with two drivers who have a combined 10 world championships under their belt for the win at Silverstone.
Norris will come out on top against Hamilton and Verstappen at other points in his career – potentially even this season – but he needs to be patient and wait for his chance.
