So, it’s now official, for the 2024 Formula 1 season, AlphaTauri will be known as Visa Cash App RB.
Sponsorship and branding have always played a big part in F1, Red Bull itself is quite obviously a marketing tool itself.
However, journalist Nate Saunders has now shared what the team are referring to themselves as internally as their new name is a bit of a mouthful.
This isn’t the first time this winter that Formula 1 fans have had to learn a new name before the start of the season.
When Alfa Romeo announced their withdrawal from the sport, all eyes were on Sauber to see what they would be rebranded as.
It turns out after months of negotiations and marketing meetings that Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber was what they settled on.
Restrictions on advertising certain companies in various territories mean that the name will change throughout the season.
Valtteri Bottas himself has already sarcastically reacted to the name change that is likely to confuse everyone throughout the year.
Visa Cash App RB is the newest bizarre name to appear on the grid as the latest iteration of AlphaTauri.
While Toro Rosso still seems like the best name for the Red Bull sister team, the prospect of some additional financing couldn’t go amiss.

AlphaTauri becomes Visa Cash App RB for the 2024 F1 season
Posting on social media after the news broke, ESPN journalist Nate Saunders shared some information that might make everyone’s lives a little easier.
It turns out that workers at AlphaTauri haven’t been using the team’s full name in internal discussions, likely because it would waste too much time.
He said: “It’s official – AlphaTauri has been renamed Visa Cash App RB.
“Internally, the team is being referred to as V-CARB, which may well be a name which catches on for the season itself”
Many fans would have liked to see AlphaTauri retain their name instead of becoming Visa Cash App RB.
Maybe it’s to distract people from the narrowing relationship between themselves and Red Bull which has been questioned in recent weeks.
The bright blue being used in their limited marketing efforts thus far suggests a drastic change in livery too.
Let’s see if V-CARB catches on instead of people choosing to continue to call them AlphaTauri, the same way many will always refer to Stake F1 as Sauber.
