Mercedes have confirmed Kimi Antonelli for the 2025 Formula 1 season leaving just two seats unoccupied for next year.

Sauber still haven’t decided who will partner Nico Hulkenberg yet although the team appear to be falling away from the rest of the grid which doesn’t make them the most attractive prospect.

The other seat is at RB with Red Bull yet to decide how they’re going to fit five drivers – or potentially six if Isack Hadjar wins the Formula 2 championship – into four places.

Max Verstappen is staying at Red Bull for at least another season despite interest from Mercedes in his services.

Yuki Tsunoda and Sergio Perez are confirmed for next year too, although the Mexican driver is fighting to keep his seat after an underwhelming campaign.

Speaking on Ted’s Notebook, journalist and pit lane reporter Ted Kravitz shared his latest thoughts on Daniel Ricciardo’s future.

The Australian knows he’s under pressure with Liam Lawson waiting in the wings – and the garage at every race – to step up to F1.

Helmut Marko has confirmed Lawson will have a Formula 1 seat next year and Kravitz has suggested that his most likely destination is RB.

After making a dramatic return to the grid last year, Ricciardo may be facing being dropped from the F1 grid once again.

Ted Kravitz shares what he’s heard about RB’s 2025 driver line-up

It’s been a difficult second half of the season for RB thus far as updates they’ve added to the car haven’t had the desired impact.

Ricciardo managed to qualify in P12, while Tsunoda was eliminated in the first session of qualifying.

After the session, Kravitz was talking about the Australian driver and said: “Daniel Ricciardo was saying that we’re going to hear soon who the other driver with Yuki Tsunoda is at RB next year.

“We’re all expecting that to be Liam Lawson and all Daniel Ricciardo could say was all I can do is keep pushing and hope there’s some kind of place for me in the future.

“Whether that’s deputising for Perez or not but we don’t think it is.”

Daniel Ricciardo advised on his next career move if he leaves RB

Lawson’s future should be explained shortly with a clause in his contract allowing him to become a free agent in September if Red Bull don’t find a seat for him.

That means Ricciardo may also learn whether he’ll be with the team next year, although there’s still the possibility that he will stay with Red Bull should they decide to let Perez go.

Ricciardo has been the next step he should consider if he leaves F1 and it would be very popular among fans.

He’s an extremely recognisable character and someone who has really benefitted from the rise to prominence of Drive to Survive.

However, it has to be remembered that Ricciardo has had a very successful F1 career alongside his off-the-track antics.

He matched Verstappen brilliantly during their time together at Red Bull and has eight race wins to his name.
