Racing Bulls are the only team yet to confirm a driver for the 2026 Formula 1 season, but their two incumbents are making any decision very difficult to make.
The Sao Paulo Grand Prix saw the battle to finish sixth in the constructors’ championship heat up, and Racing Bulls will be pleased with their performance.
Racing Bulls started the weekend hoping to open the gap over Aston Martin, Haas and Sauber beneath them, with Oliver Bearman being the in-form man among F1’s midfield.
The Brit once again impressed, finishing sixth and pushing towards a top 10 finish in the drivers’ championship.
However, it was Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar who crossed the line next, with the New Zealander leading a train of cars behind him.
| RANK | DRIVER | TEAM | POINTS |
| 1 | Lando Norris | McLaren | 25 |
| 2 | Kimi Antonelli | Mercedes | 18 |
| 3 | Max Verstappen | Red Bull | 15 |
| 4 | George Russell | Mercedes | 12 |
| 5 | Oscar Piastri | McLaren | 10 |
| 6 | Oliver Bearman | Haas | 8 |
| 7 | Liam Lawson | Racing Bulls | 6 |
| 8 | Isack Hadjar | Racing Bulls | 4 |
| 9 | Nico Hulkenberg | Sauber | 2 |
| 10 | Pierre Gasly | Alpine | 1 |
Lawson earned a new nickname at Racing Bulls after executing a perfect one-stop strategy.
He spent more than 50 laps on one set of tyres, and while he and Hadjar made contact on the final lap, they both escaped unscathed.
Hadjar is expected to be promoted to Red Bull next season, but Lawson’s future remains a mystery.
Ted Kravitz has now shared what he’s heard about Racing Bulls’ 2026 line-up, and where Lawson, Yuki Tsunoda and Formula 2 star Arvid Lindblad fit into the equation.

Ted Kravitz provides an update on Racing Bulls’ 2026 driver line-up
Kravitz was speaking on Ted’s Notebook at the conclusion of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
It was Lawson’s second top-seven finish in the past five races after achieving a career-best result at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
In stark contrast, Tsunoda came home in last once again, albeit a mistake during his pit stop when serving a penalty ruined any chance he had of scoring points.

| 1 | McLaren Racing | 756 |
| 2 | Mercedes-AMG Petronas | 398 |

Talking about Racing Bulls’ driver line-up for next year, Kravitz said: “We think we’re heading towards knowing what the Racing Bulls line-up is for next year, which is probably not going to be Yuki Tsunoda.
“It’s probably going to be Liam Lawson, and we think, maybe, that Arvid Lindblad has a better chance than maybe he did a month or so ago.
“We will see and find out.”

Is promoting Arvid Lindblad the right decision over retaining Yuki Tsunoda for 2026?
It appears as though Red Bull are closing in on a decision on their quartet of drivers for next season.
Lindblad hasn’t had a standout campaign in Formula 2 this year, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to judge drivers based on their performances at that level.
Bearman and Kimi Antonelli weren’t in contention for the F2 title last year, but have proved that they’re more than worthy of a place on the grid in Formula 1.
| TEAM | DRIVER 1 | DRIVER 2 |
| Alpine | Pierre Gasly | Franco Colapinto |
| Aston Martin | Fernando Alonso | Lance Stroll |
| Audi | Gabriel Bortoleto | Nico Hulkenberg |
| Cadillac | Valtteri Bottas | Sergio Perez |
| Ferrari | Charles Leclerc | Lewis Hamilton |
| Haas | Esteban Ocon | Oliver Bearman |
| McLaren | Lando Norris | Oscar Piastri |
| Mercedes | George Russell | Kimi Antonelli |
| Racing Bulls | Liam Lawson | Arvid Lindblad |
| Red Bull Racing | Max Verstappen | Isack Hadjar |
| Williams | Alex Albon | Carlos Sainz |
Tsunoda was tasked with helping with Verstappen’s set-up after fluffing his lines during qualifying for the Sprint Race in Brazil.
However, Verstappen ended up being eliminated in Q1 and needed to start from the pit lane to adjust his car sufficiently before Sunday’s race.
If Tsunoda’s experience isn’t proving to be one of his strengths at Red Bull, then the team may as well take a gamble on Lindblad and promote him into the Racing Bulls car alongside Lawson.
