Red Bull send tongue-in-cheek message to Lando Norris after F1 season finale

Red Bull Racing have sent a cheeky message to McLaren star Lando Norris on social media with the teams and drivers heading into the winter break.

The 24-year-old driver was on the receiving end of a post on their Instagram account.

The mood within the Red Bull camp right now will be sky-high after one of the most impressive campaigns in Formula 1 history.

Max Verstappen dominated the sport, accumulating 19 race wins and only finishing off the podium once.

He made Sergio Perez’s campaign look disappointing despite the Mexican finishing with nearly 300 points.

One of the stars of the season outside the of the Red Bull group was McLaren’s Lando Norris.

The young Brit had one of the weakest cars on the grid at the start of the year, but their development over the course of the season was remarkable.

There were plenty of races towards the end of the campaign where Norris was Red Bull’s closest competitor, but that hasn’t stopped them sending him a cheeky message on social media.

Norris has a huge online fanbase, partly due to his willingness to engage with social media.

He regularly streams online and is no stranger to posting on other driver’s Instagram accounts.

Now, he’s been on the other side of a little bit of light ribbing.

Red Bull account sends Norris message on Instagram

The championship-winning team posted a video of a cooldown room with Max Verstappen and Norris.

After an exhausting race, Norris can been seen drinking a can of Red Bull and the team posted the message: “DW @landonorris, we’ll always have your back in your moment of need.”

Now, Norris and Verstappen are close friends off the track and if Sergio Perez moves on at the end of his contract next year then the Brit might be in the frame to take his place.

Alex Albon has previously suggested that Norris would have an ‘open invitation’ to join the team.

Norris will be desperate to secure his first race win sooner rather than later and even if Verstappen was his teammate, he’d have a better chance of doing that in a Red Bull compared to a McLaren right now.

Whether Christian Horner would want another driver alongside Verstappen who could genuinely challenge him is another matter.

Until then, Verstappen and Norris will have to remain rivals from a distance.
