The future of Sergio Perez at Red Bull is currently in limbo amid pressure to improve his results on track in the final few races of the season.
It is no secret that Perez has dramatically underperformed at Red Bull this year, with the Mexican over 200 points off Max Verstappen in the Drivers’ Championship.
Perez is under increasing pressure from team principal Christian Horner, having last finished on the podium in the Miami Grand Prix Sprint race.
The Mexican’s form can be partially responsible for Red Bull currently lagging behind Ferrari and McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship, while Verstappen looks nearly guaranteed to retain his Drivers’ crown having only needing to outscore Norris in Las Vegas.

There is a lot of speculation over whether Red Bull will drop Perez at the end of the season, however, former F1 driver Robert Doornbos has given his verdict when speaking to Motorsport.NL.
Robert Doornbos says it would be ‘incredible’ if Red Bull kept Sergio Perez
Perez is reportedly in breach of his current contract with Red Bull having fallen too far behind on points to Verstappen, making a third consecutive Constructors’ title unlikely.
Doornbos believes it would be ‘incredible’ if Red Bull kept on Perez given his form and believes there are better candidates.
“It would be incredible if that was Pérez again,” said Doornbos.
“If Yuki performs the same as in Brazil over the next three race weekends, he should also have a chance to win that seat next to Max.
“But Liam is also doing very well. He didn’t drive most of the year, but immediately did better than his predecessor.”

Is Liam Lawson the frontrunner to replace Sergio Perez?
Lawson has impressed considerably since taking over from Daniel Ricciardo after the Singapore GP, although Red Bull has a range of options they could consider to replace Perez.
One of those is Tsunoda, who Tom Coronel believes should replace the Mexican given Lawson’s lack of experience going up against Verstappen.

Damon Hill expects Lawson will make the step up with the current drive in RB acting as a rehearsal to see if he is capable of handling it.
As for Perez, Red Bull faces a sizable bill if it decides to get rid of him for next season, which might be the right move if they want to ensure both drivers consistently finish close to each other.
