Red Bull Racing driver Sergio Perez is under pressure to retain his seat this year, but he could be about to enter his final season in Formula 1 entirely.
Christian Horner has a big decision to make this year and will be using their early races in the calendar to assess the Mexican.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Peter Windsor doubts that Sergio Perez will be a Formula 1 driver for much longer.
It’s never an easy job being a Red Bull driver, with the pressure constantly on to perform.
While the team won both championships in 2023 and secured their first-ever one-two in the Drivers’ Championship, there was still a feeling they could have performed better.
Max Verstappen would have won both championships single-handedly, with Perez accused of not getting the best out of the most dominant car in F1 history.
Horner and Helmut Marko will be aware that their competitors will close the gap on them this year, meaning the 33-year-old has to step up his performances in 2024.
If he doesn’t then Perez might be about to enter his final season as a Red Bull driver.
Not only that, Windsor isn’t sure that the six-time race winner will be on the grid for much longer.
Existing in the Red Bull team chaos is exhausting and Perez might end up ending his time in F1 as a result.

Perez might be about to enter his final season in Formula 1
Answering a question from a viewer, Windsor said: “A driver swap for 2025, [Lando] Norris to Red Bull, [Sergio] Perez to McLaren?
“Do you think Perez will still be driving in 2025? Maybe, I doubt it.
“If he is available, would he go back to McLaren, would McLaren have him back? I don’t know, I can’t imagine it to be honest.
He then went on to say: “I don’t think Perez will race for too much longer.”
If Red Bull decide that Perez is about to enter his final season with the team, then he has a big decision to make.
Horner is already keeping a close eye on a few other drivers to potentially replace him if required.
He’s already been told to stay away from a move to Alpine while he’s in ‘constant’ talks over a potential career change.
Perez is fast enough to be a very good F1 driver going forward even if he leaves Red Bull at the end of 2024.
Being compared to Verstappen every week has never helped any driver but he could enjoy a renaissance elsewhere if given the chance.
