Pedro De La Rosa has claimed that Lewis Hamilton has a ‘sixth sense’ that ‘no one else’ is capable of in Formula 1.
Hamilton, 41, is arguably the greatest ever driver to race in F1, having won seven world championship titles so far in his illustrious career.
The Brit started his career at the top of motorsport with McLaren, before moving to Mercedes, where he dominated his rivals and won six titles. Ahead of 2025, Hamilton moved to Ferrari in search of a record-breaking eighth title.
As a result of his success, Hamilton is firmly involved in the F1 GOAT debate alongside the likes of Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso.

Pedro De La Rosa says Lewis Hamilton has ‘sensors’ on his backside
Speaking to former Sky Sports reporter Rachel Brookes in her book ‘F1 Racing Drive’, De La Rosa spoke about Hamilton’s ability to have a ‘particular feeling’ when entering a corner at speed.
The 55-year-old Spaniard, who raced for Arrows, Jaguar, McLaren, Sauber and HRT in F1, joked that Hamilton has ‘sensors’ on his backside, which allow him to be able to drive the car on a ‘knife’s edge’.
De La Rosa described it as Hamilton having a ‘sixth sense’ that no one else has among the F1 paddock.
Brookes wrote: “Pedro de la Rosa once said Lewis Hamilton has sensors on his backside. What does it mean to have sensors on your backside, and how can it help you as a driver?
“Pedro explains to me, ‘Lewis has a very particular feeling in the car on the entry of corners; he always slides the rear end of the car, and he’s very good at it.
“‘He attacks the apex just by rotating the car, sliding the car, and he likes to get the car on the knife’s edge. He has a very good feeling of the rear; when we talk about sliding, it might be something we might not see on the onboard camera.
“‘Lewis has always had a massive feeling of his a—, just to rotate the car, sliding the car, but that’s very difficult because every corner is different. You never have the same grip. These guys have a sixth sense to deal with this that no one else has.’”

Throughout his career, Hamilton has managed to break a large number of records, including most race wins, most podium finishes and most pole positions.
Although he is now at the age of 41, Hamilton is still going strong, which has surprised a few people, especially following his nightmare first season with Ferrari.
So far in 2026, Hamilton has secured his first win for Ferrari at the Barcelona Grand Prix last month, while also scoring five podium finishes.
In the world championship standings, the seven-time world champion leads teammate Charles Leclerc by 39 points.
