McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has shared the one change he’d like to make to the Las Vegas Grand Prix ahead of next year’s race.
Piastri was speaking on the Formula 1 Post Race Show after an eventful drive in the Nevada desert for the 22-year-old.
Oscar Piastri has had one of the most memorable rookie seasons for an F1 driver in some time.
His Sprint Race win will be the highlight but back-to-back podiums in Japan and Qatar will also live long in the memory.
McLaren got their development wrong over the winter, leaving Piastri and Lando Norris with plenty of work to do in the second half of the season.
However, they now possess one of the fastest cars on the grid, although they didn’t have the best of luck in Las Vegas.
Norris managed just a few laps before a momentary loss of grip saw him collide with the barrier and careen off the track at turn 12.
Piastri was running in fourth at one point, but had to change his tyres in the final laps and dropped down the pack before recovering to 10th.

After the race, Piastri named the one change he would make to the Las Vegas weekend in 2024.
It might be popular with at least one other driver on the grid who will have similar feelings, although it may not be very different to the current situation.
Piastri asks for one change in Las Vegas
Speaking about the very late nights the drivers, teams and spectators had to deal with last weekend, Piastri said: “I mean today’s actually quite early, I’m quite fresh! I’m finally used to this crazy time zone.
“Interesting double-header to go to the other side of the world. It’s a shame it’s not the season finale and I can go straight home, it would be sweet.
“Because it normally takes about two weeks to get used to it at home.
Fellow Australian and Alpine reserve driver Jack Doohan asked: “Final round Australia?”
Piastri replied: “Ah, that’s a pretty nasty double-header though, it’s not any shorter than Abu Dhabi though.”
Something needs to change in Las Vegas next year when it comes to the timings as Piastri and others have suggested.
Toto Wolff has already said bringing qualifying forward would make a big difference.
The prospect of a triple header with Las Vegas leading into races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi might not sound very appealing to the teams at the moment.
Especially you consider they’ll be the final three races of the longest season in F1 history.
However, it’s a sign of the sport’s popularity growing that more and more races are being added to the calendar.
