Performing under pressure in Formula 1 is one of the biggest attributes that a driver must have to succeed.
It is often these moments which can achieve pole positions, win or lose races, or even result in title success. Some drivers can crumble under pressure, while others thrive at the possibility of usurping their rivals in key moments.
Sergio Perez has been a driver under pressure to deliver on track recently, having been told by Red Bull that he must improve his results or risk having break clauses activated in his contract.
Former racing driver-turned-pundit Naomi Schiff discussed her ideal driver for various scenarios, outlining which driver would be the best when told various scenarios in a social media video for Sky Sports F1.
Naomi Schiff names ideal driver who performs under pressure
Out of the 20 drivers on the grid, few can produce moments under pressure without making mistakes on track.
Lando Norris has been upfront with his struggles having missed out on wins from pole positions before, while Valtteri Bottas is also under pressure to secure a seat for next season.
With that in mind, Schiff has explained who she thinks is the best driver that performs under pressure on the current grid: “Under pressure, I would probably go with Lewis Hamilton.
“I don’t think there are many occasions where Lewis comes over the team radio and ever seems frazzled. And when he’s got a driver chasing him, he doesn’t make many mistakes.”

Lewis Hamilton’s most impressive victory
Lewis Hamilton has produced his fair share of impressive moments throughout his F1 career, notably at the most recent British Grand Prix when he took his ninth victory at the track.
While McLaren and Norris seemingly sounded chaotic over the team radio, according to former F1 driver Joylon Palmer, there was a much more direct line of communication between Hamilton and his long-time engineer Peter Bonnington.

It was ultimately his experience and skill that enabled him to fit the right tyres at the right time towards the end of the race, as the conditions changed from wet to dry.
Damon Hill branded the victory ‘epic’ in a post on social media after the race, while Palmer felt that Hamilton was generally driving close to the limit compared to teammate George Russell.
