McLaren have reportedly acted at ‘lightning speed’ after looking into the Ferrari SF-26 for the past two months.
Back in Miami, McLaren brought significant upgrades, which allowed Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to challenge the dominant Mercedes duo of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell.
After what was a tough start to the campaign, McLaren improved in Miami, with Norris and Piastri finishing second and third, respectively.
Looking ahead to this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix, it has been claimed that more upgrades for the MCL40 are incoming.

McLaren have taken action at ‘lightning speed’ after studying Ferrari car
According to RacingNews365, McLaren are set to improve their aerodynamics by introducing their own version of the Macarena wing, which caught the eye when Ferrari used it during pre-season testing in Bahrain.
Since Ferrari’s Macarena wing debut in Bahrain, it has been seen in China and Miami, with Red Bull also bringing their own version.
Now, it is set to be McLaren’s turn, having analysed the component over the last two months.
It has been suggested that the production of McLaren’s Macarena wing has been done at ‘lightning speed’.
As a result, the ‘necessary units for both cars, including spare parts’ have now been completed ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.
However, the report went on to state that it is currently ‘unclear’ whether McLaren will choose to run the Macarena wing in Montreal.
It has been claimed that the ‘biggest stumbling block’ is the Canadian Grand Prix being a Sprint weekend, meaning there is only one free practice session, which makes evaluation of the upgrades ‘impossible’.
But it has to be said that Miami was also a Sprint weekend, and the likes of McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull also brought multiple upgrades for their cars.

Andrea Stella says McLaren’s Miami upgrades have ‘worked well’
Following a Sprint victory for Norris and a double podium finish in the main Grand Prix, McLaren team boss Andrea Stella was in a cheerful mood.
Although the Italian admitted that Mercedes are still ahead, he made clear that McLaren’s new upgrades have worked as intended.
As per Planet F1, Stella explained: “It’s a positive day, and it’s positive news for McLaren, because it means that upgrades, they have worked well.
“When we look at the list of upgrades taken here, I think in order of quantity, Ferrari had a more consistent group of upgrades than Red Bull, than McLaren. So we are happy that we could have all the performance on the car.
“Like we have said already, we kept no secret. We will have some more stuff coming for Canada. So we are quite encouraged.”
