McLaren fans have one message for Oscar Piastri after Lando Norris collision at the Singapore Grand Prix

McLaren are at the centre of yet more controversy with their drivers as Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris collided on lap one of the Singapore Grand Prix.

The former is looking to bounce back from a disastrous weekend in Baku last time out, as he crashed in qualifying and the race. With Norris cutting his championship lead down, Piastri needs a strong response at the Singapore Grand Prix.

He put himself in a good position to achieve that by qualifying third ahead of his McLaren teammate in fifth. The Aussie has looked quick all weekend, with Piastri topping FP2 ahead of Norris on Friday.

But it was the Brit who got the better start on Sunday as he leapfrogged Kimi Antonelli and his teammate into turn one. However, drama came about as the two McLarens made contact at the next left-hander.

McLaren fans tell Oscar Piastri to ‘stop crying’ after Lando Norris collision at the Singapore Grand Prix

As Norris came up alongside Piastri, he hit the back of Max Verstappen in second, before appearing to slide into Piastri, causing the two to bang wheels.

Norris found his way through, albeit with a damaging left plate on his front wing. Piastri was far from impressed, telling McLaren it was ‘not fair’ that his teammate barged his way through and the team were not willing to swap positions.

The stewards found no wrongdoing from the contract, and McLaren fans seemed to see it the same way. They took to the Woking outfit’s X account (formerly Twitter) to tell Piastri to get on with the race and not complain over his radio.

“Do not swap the drivers. Oscar is such a moaner these days. Get out there and race!!” said one fan. Another said: “Oscar needs to stop crying, get his head down, and race. Rubbing is, and has always been, racing.”

“Stop crying Oscar,” said one user. Another wrote: “Can you get Oscar to stop crying,” while another McLaren fan echoed: Tell Oscar to stop crying and drive man.

Finally, one user wrote: “DO NOT take ANY notice of Oscar. It’s a race and I am starting to question how entitled Oscar believes he is by asking the Team to look into being overtaken by Lando. He does this EVERY time he’s lost out to Lando – except over Team orders.”

Oscar Piastri is growing more agitated as 2025 title fight goes on

Piastri’s frustrations with his team come after multiple controversies in recent races. The Aussie was unhappy with McLaren swapping positions in Monza after Norris had a slow stop, allowing the Brit to gain on him in the standings.

‘Everyone’ thinks McLaren are favouring Norris over Piastri for the 2025 title. With 25 points separating the pair, the latter will be desperate to keep his lead, but the pressure may be getting to him.

Jenson Button says the title fight is taking its ‘toll’ on Piastri after seeing his mentality in recent races. His retirement in Baku has also brought Max Verstappen back into the running, having won the last two races.

Piastri’s anger over his radio in Singapore shows how much he is affected by this title fight. He has to ensure he keeps a clear head if he wants to secure the world championship.
