Max Verstappen finally responded to Juan Pablo Montoya, who has been relentlessly critical of the four-time world champion.

Over the last few months, perhaps no personality in Formula 1 has been more critical of Max Verstappen than Juan Pablo Montoya.

Montoya has criticised Verstappen’s dangerous driving for a long time, and that hasn’t changed in recent months.

The FIA have been told to give Max Verstappen ‘penalty points’ for his comments about the new rules

But it was Montoya suggesting Verstappen should be fined for being critical of the new regulations that garnered a lot of attention from fans and fellow pundits.

Now, after months of comments, critiques, and attacks, Verstappen has finally responded to Montoya with a scathing response.

Max Verstappen questions why F1 work with Juan Pablo Montoya after recent comments

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Max Verstappen weighed in on the recent criticism aimed at him from Juan Pablo Montoya.

Rather than tackle any specific points Montoya made, Verstappen suggested that the Colombian former F1 driver was saying controversial things about him for relevance.

“I don’t know what his problem is. I also have very little patience with someone who talks so much nonsense.

“I just don’t understand why types like that get paid by Formula 1 management, simply because he sometimes works for them.

“Surely you don’t want someone like that in the paddock who spouts so much rubbish? I think it’s a case of: ‘I say something different from everyone else, so I’m relevant.’ It doesn’t bother me that much; it’s his problem. I live my life and won’t let it influence me.”

Max Verstappen must turn his attention to Formula 1 season after recent Red Bull improvement

Hopefully, Verstappen’s tell-all interview has allowed him to address many errant narratives that were created about him amid his recent frustration with the state of Formula 1.

Verstappen also addressed his future with Red Bull and how he wants the second half of his career to look in the sport.

But now, after addressing these concerns, Max must shift his focus to his season with Red Bull. After a rocky start to the season, Red Bull have improved their car and helped Verstappen.

And while Verstappen’s frustration with Red Bull was evident yesterday, the team have given him a competitive car that allows him to battle it out with other top drivers.

Even though Red Bull aren’t the outright favourites like they have been in years past, with Verstappen in the driver’s seat, they still have a chance to be competitive.
